Delightfully Deceitful Episodes 3 and 4 Highlights
Fired by Ro-woom, Moo-young finds himself in another situation with her when she caught a man taking a video of her without permission.
She gets the man’s phone and realizes he illegally takes pictures and videos then sells it to buyers. Tapping her hacker friend Da-jung, Ro-woom asks her to plant malware to monitor the illegal video seller’s activities.
Ro-woom surrenders the phone to Moo-young who contemplates what he’s going to do with it.
Meeting the man again, Moo-young gives the phone back and reports what he has learned about the illegal videos stored in his phone. He also meets Da-jung to help erase the videos online.
Meanwhile, Ro-woom receives a message welcoming her back and a cryptic gift that made her feel unsettled.
“No one can pay the consequences for their every action. That’s why we all need others.”
When the studio Ro-woom lives in gets flooded, she crashes at Moo-young’s place and sees the insurance fraud case of Mrs. Seo that he now has to handle.
Of course, Ro-woom mocks his tenacity that the case will be in his favor. She also realistically comments on how Mrs. Seo who made her child be adopted does not have the right to call something foul since she let go of her son in the first place.
Still, Moo-young asserts that he will help the grieving mother. While he works hard to negotiate with his client, Ro-woom also moves to retrieve the insurance money through her own process.
Going home, Moo-young chances upon Yo-han who goes with him to his apartment. Remembering what his psychiatrist Jae-in said not to allow Ro-woom to invade his space and to never let his guard down, it was too late for him when he was greeted by Ro-woom sitting on a pile of money claiming it is her client’s insurance fraud payout.
Rushing to bring the bills inside a vacant room, he asked Ro-woom to stay there. Unable to shoo Yo-han away, he even invited himself in and drank some beer since he’s already there.
The next day, Yo-han wakes up to the sight of Ro-woom eating strawberries that again she stole from Moo-young’s neighbor. After learning about her place situation, Yo-han also proposed staying at Moo-young’s place sometimes.
“I was the one who went to the prison. Why are all of you a mess?”
Back at his place, Moo-young listens to Ro-woom’s con that retrieved his client’s insurance money. She explains the concept of HAPPY: Hunt, Appointment, Plow, Propose and Yield which she perfectly used against Mrs. Seo’s friend who adopted and killed the latter’s son and staged it as an accident.
Upright Moo-young as expected motions to return the money but Ro-woom reasons how she’s trying to prove that the solution she suggested is the most effective and realistic.
She gives him the option to think if she will really return the money. By doing so, the handphone that could be important to his case will also be returned.
Meanwhile, Ring Go, a friend of Da-jung’s and Ro-woom’s was beaten to a pulp and abducted afterward by the same thugs. Da-jung who worries about his medical condition seeks Moo-young’s help unaware that Ro-woom stays with him.
Ro-woom and Da-jung work together to save Ring Go, but they need a driver and another friend in their cryptic group can’t do it which infuriated Ro-woom.
She questions Da-jung why the group members are in a mess when she was the one who went to the prison.
“All the choices I made that day, Ro-woom was the reason for all of them.”
In saving Ring Go, Ro-woom decided to trace the two young men who ran away with the money of the thugs. Da-jung traces them with her hacking skills and they ask Ring Go’s helpers to their mission.
Confronting a dilemma, Moo-young calls Da-jung to relay his plan to report Ring Go missing so the police will be mobilized to look for him. But his other problem in the case involving Mrs. Seo is also pressing on his righteous conviction.
Making a choice, Moo-young asks Ro-woom to rescue Ring Go, keep the youth who ran away with money safe and return the money scammed.
Using her brilliant mind, Ro-woom scams the leader of the thugs and siphons off his money. She later realizes something is off in what just transpired in Ring Go’s rescue mission.
Moo-young meets his new prosecutor friend along with his reporter contact to expose the truth about the insurance case. Evidence from the video captured by the foster parents’ daughter reveals that it was not accidental.
Convening at Da-jung’s store, she says that Moo-young did not call from a nearby police station. Right on cue, he enters the store and declares wanting to join the team in doing beneficial fraud.
Delightfully Deceitful Episodes 3 and 4 Musings
Chun Woo Hee is really the life of the party in Delightfully Deceitful so far as Ro-woom. If she can be a spirit guide, a lot of people would sign up for that.
Her interaction with Moo-young is on another level of adorable. Since Kim Dong Wook is appearing in another drama right now, it’s also given to admire him for how he is differentiating his characters so far.
Jeokmok Kids introduced in the 2nd episode most likely would occupy some crucial side stories as the narrative proceeds. We’re not sure yet if we will meet more aside from the four that were officially presented.
Hinted in the conversation between Ro-woom and Da-jung is an incident that perhaps pushed the Jeokmok Kids to do something against the foundation which took them in. Clearly, more of what happened during those times are the motivating factors for the revenge plan they are seeking to complete.
Explicitly explaining its concept of “beneficial fraud” – the series vaunts a sound argument on other ways that justice can be claimed and served. What’s more interesting is how Moo-young adjusts to his new life of pulling off cons to provide solutions that would help his highly-empathetic self and the victims of crimes that the justice system can’t help.
Enter the manipulative yet fascinating mind of Ro-woom as well as the caring and compassionate heart of Moo-young in Delightfully Deceitful.
