Doctor Lawyer Episodes 7 & 8 Highlights
Last week in Doctor Lawyer, Han Yi-han finally revealed his story to Geum Seok-young. He also agrees to work with Jayden Lee. The latter is also getting on the nerves of Gu Hyun-sung who is not aware that his fiancée is having an affair with Banseok Medical Foundation’s investor.
“I don’t care if you did drugs or not. I want to know with what purpose you dragged us into this?!”
On the brink of harming Yi-han, Hyuk-chul listens to his wife about their options. With their son’s life at stake, they opt to make a decision once Yi-han’s license is reinstated.
On a date with Hyun-sung, Yuna already feels that his predictable self is preparing to propose marriage. Pretending not to know, she politely refuses to challenge him to be worthy of her first. With that, she means she wants him to surpass his father.
Meanwhile, Seok-young demands Yi-han to have him meet Jayden to get a picture of where they are heading.
Visiting Jayden at his penthouse, she asked his intention. He then reveals how he needs them on his plan regarding a new contract with Gu Jin-gi. With their help, it could make the stock prices of Banseok Medical Foundation drop.
Jayden will also benefit from it per his previous agreement with Chairman Gu. His end game is to have Banseok R & D center be acquired by Honours Hand.
Sealing their deal, the three clink their shot glasses. Just then, Yu-na arrives to join the meeting.
Per Hyun-sung’s instruction, Lawyer Pyo was tasked to make things hard for Yo-sub. Dumping numerous tasks, Yo-sub almost reached his limit. That’s the time that Chairman Gu proposed reinstating his position ensuring his disassociation with Yi-han.
At New Hope Law Office, the team celebrates Yi-han’s medical license reaffirmation. They also meet the reporter who exchanged information about Yu-na’s father, Im Tae-moon.
“I waited five years for my revenge. It would be futile to end it like this. But the thing about revenge is that it can only be futile when it ends.”
Looping in Seok-young about Im Tae-moon’s medicines that suggest he received organ donation, Yi-han told her that he would probe more and not jump to the conclusion that he could have received the heart meant for Seok-ju.
Gu Jin-gi also meets Head Nurse Jo who requested to proceed with the surgery. However, Chairman Gu refuses and makes a stern warning to keep her loyalty in place. He promises a new heart is underway for her son at the expense of a brain-dead patient who signed up for organ donation.
Representing Jayden, Yi-han meets Chairman Gu again. Pointing the obsidian knife from deathrow inmate Suk-chul to Chairman Gu, Yi-han acknowledged the gift he received from the chairman. He also returned the same cut he got knowing the investigation about the knife would backfire on Chairman Gu if it gets revealed.
Sealing a new contract, Jayden challenged a big amount to guarantee that the agreement will be carried on accordingly.
After the contract signing, Chairman Gu taunts Yi-han that he won’t let his plan go through. Offering a post in the hospital, Yi-han bluntly refused it.
Reminding Yi-han how he had to be a monster to catch a monster, Chairman Gu watched him turn on the news about him that could impact his hearing to become the Minister of Health. Yi-han makes a firm warning that his revenge is risky but he’s willing to do it come what may.
“My brother Seok-ju was the same age as your son. If you plan on stealing someone else’s heart again, if you create another victim like Seok-ju, I’ll make sure your son is tormented for life.”
Yi-han’s clinic receives Jayden’s lawyer fee consisting of medical equipment. His team holds a small party, but he left to meet Nurse Jo who declared not going to proceed with the surgery anymore.
Seok-young who overheard the conversation warns Nurse Jo that she will torment her son with everything she has to expose the truth.
A while back, Seok-young proceeded to investigate her senior Kang-ho. She visits the records management team and gathers the information she needs. Unfortunately, she bumps on her former senior who inadvertently told Kang-ho that he met Seok-young.
In a flashback, Kang-ho who was then investigating Yi-han apparently was summoned by Chairman Gu. The latter pretends on supporting the prosecution’s intention about medical malpractice.
He even used Kang-ho’s concern towards Seok-young in making Yi-han look bad. Promising to help him so Yi-han’s license got revoked, Kang-ho agrees to receive help.
Breaking down after her heated conversation with Nurse Jo, Seok-young cried her heart out of the pain she has about what happened to Seok-ju.
The next day, Kang-ho meets Seok-young to ask about why she summoned Gu Jin-gi. He also asks what she looked up at the records’ office.
Wanting to extend the trial period for the Alzheimer’s disease being developed by Banseok R & D, Chairman Gu put pressure on her father. Thus, she was asked to stop the extension of the trial period.
Yu-na meets Jayden to release stress at a race track. She relays the proposal she received from Hyun-sung. Jayden tells her not to marry him and urges her to live her own life.
“Han Yi-han will sneak out a patient tomorrow from Banseok Hospital tomorrow.”
When Nurse Jo’s son had a critical attack, she sought Yo-sub’s health, but he refused to accept working with Yi-han.
They decide to sneak out Nurse Jo’s son and timing it on the VIP’s visit. However, they need an elevator, so, Yi-han asked Jayden’s left.
Seok-young feels they should not be too trusting with Jayden. True to what she thought, Jayden tipped Chairman Gu about the plan.
In the end, it turns out that Jayden’s tip-off is part of the plan for Yi-han and Nurse Jo to become decoys while the patient was transported through a helicopter.
Seeing Yi-han clutching his arm that was hit, Chairman Gu gutsily declares it’s not over yet since he can’t be sure that he will nail the surgery.
Before the surgery, Yo-sub arrives. At that same moment, the trial for Suk-chul is proceeding.
While on surgery, Yi-han’s hand trembles so Yo-sub volunteers to continue the task.
Doctor Lawyer Episodes 7 & 8 Musings
To be honest, Doctor Lawyer is giving viewers the makjang thrill in a sane way. And it’s definitely a good thing. Something feels a bit off on Yo-sub’s loyalty. But if in case he betrays Yi-han that would fuel the excitement of the narrative.
Past the middle mark of the series, the race is on for the contending parties with their own end games in place. Previously, I mentioned the predictability of the plot and the volatility of the characters drive the charm of Doctor Lawyer. Thankfully, Yi-han and Seok-young had now moved on from the past with a mutual payback goal.
Right now, we’re at the point where we worry about the hidden intentions of the characters. Therefore, we also fear the risky decisions Yi-han and Seok-young are getting into, in case those backfires.
Having tricky characters like Jayden, Yuna and Yo-sub also heighten our senses to prepare for the worst every time.
Will Yi-han’s trust on Yo-sub save the important patient they need for their plan?
