Things are looking up for our resident doctor, who is thrilled to bits to have his feelings reciprocated by our heroine. But the same can’t be said about our former basketball player who gets heartbroken on more than one occasion this week.
Meanwhile, our run-away mothers are back in town, though their motives can’t be any more different.

Family By Choice Episodes 11 and 12 Highlights
“Give me a chance because Yoon Ju-won is my entire world.”
Flustered by San-ha’s confession, Ju-won takes off quickly and spends the rest of the night absent-minded. In the morning, Ju-won leaves early to avoid San-ha, but she ends up coming across him in front of the elevator and flees away. Still, the way Ju-won keeps checking her phone in anticipation suggests she cares about San-ha in the same way he does, even if Ju-won hangs up quickly when San-ha calls her.
Visiting the family’s home, Ju-won treats both boys as her siblings, which comes off as weird. Of course, Ju-won isn’t as eccentric as Hae-joon who proposes to her just because he wants to be Dad Yoon’s son. The family’s reaction to Hae-joon’s proposal is downright hilarious. But if Hae-joon wishes to become Dad Yoon’s legal son, then adoption might sound better. Neither this ridiculous marriage nor adoption is needed because Dad Yoon genuinely considers Hae-joon his son and won’t let go of him.
After lunch, Ju-won tells San-ha she will pretend his confession never happened. Instead, San-ha suggests they start over as if they just met for the first time. Though she doesn’t give him a reply, the gaze in Ju-won’s eyes says everything about how she feels, especially when Ju-won overhears a conversation between San-ha and a guardian whose father injured his legs and might not be able to walk again. Seeing San-ha empathize with the guardian since he went through it himself, Ju-won admires him even more.
Even though her heart flutters because of him, Ju-won turns down San-ha, arguing they can’t be anything more than siblings. But everything changes after San-ha kisses Ju-won. (I would appreciate it if San-ha got Ju-won’s consent first.) From then on, the denial is over and Ju-won acts on her feelings, dolling up when she hears San-ha is dropping by and nursing him all night when he has a fever. San-ha is ecstatic when he is around Ju-won and plans to tell the family they are now a couple so they can openly date without worrying about anything.
“Am I just a guy you know?”
Running into Hae-joon on the street, Dal asks him to be her boyfriend. But don’t get your hopes up because Dal meant becoming her boyfriend for a day and ruining her blind date. Still, they were so cute acting like a fake couple. Having finished their mission, Dal and Hae-joon sit down for a chat, where Hae-joon tells Dal he plans to buy Dad Yoon a building, yet Dal advises Hae-joon to ask Dad Yoon first.
Learning about Hae-joon’s plans, Dad Yoon gets mad at Hae-joon for repeatedly mentioning the payback thing. What kind of father wants his children to pay him back for raising them? Is it because he isn’t Hae-joon’s birth father? As sad as I was to watch Dad Yoon yell at Hae-joon to leave, I guess this outburst was necessary for Hae-joon to realize how hurt Dad Yoon felt because of the payback thing.
After parting ways with Dad Yoon, Hae-joon reaches out to Dal. Assuring Hae-joon that Dad Yoon won’t cut ties with him but is rather heartbroken that Hae-joon suffered too much to get the money, Hae-joon feels relieved. Further, things get much better when Dad Yoon learns Hae-joon worked part-time as a model, plastering the restaurant with Hae-joon’s photos so everyone sees his handsome son.
Meanwhile, Hae-joon’s mother is back in town. Bumping into Dad Yoon by coincidence, she tries to flee away without meeting Hae-joon. But Dad Yoon won’t let her do that, prompting her to tell him the real reason she is avoiding Hae-joon. Apparently, Hae-joon’s mother killed someone, though she doesn’t elaborate much on it. Still, I am sure it was either accidental or self-defense.
Either way, Dad Yoon urges Hae-joon’s mother to tell Hae-joon the truth, but she threatens to flee away again if Dad Yoon mentions to Hae-joon that he met her. Regardless, Hae-joon learns that his mother is back and goes to see her, though he only peeks at her from afar.
Hearing that Hae-joon went to see his mother but couldn’t approach her, Ju-won and San-ha head to meet her and end up running into Dad Yoon there. The four of them sit down for a talk. But no matter what they say, Hae-joon’s mother doesn’t change her mind about not meeting Hae-joon, arguing she only wants him to live an ordinary life. It is palpable that Hae-joon’s mother loves her son and wants to protect him, but her actions only hurt him more and make him wrongly believe he is a burden to her.
Simultaneously, San-ha’s mother and sister arrive at San-ha’s place and are greeted by Hae-joon, though I wonder how she got the address. This toxic woman will stop at nothing to get her way and have San-ha take care of her forever. To his credit, Dad Kim urges San-ha to spill out the truth so that he can help him. But San-ha keeps his suffering to himself and claims he can handle the situation on his own, though as things stand, I don’t think he can do this.
Family By Choice Episodes 11 and 12 Musings
I don’t have much to say except that I am sick and tired of San-ha’s mother showing up to ruin the peace of the family and no one putting her in her place. Yeah, Dad Kim tried to reason for her, but nothing he says can get through to that self-centered woman. On the other hand, Hae-joon’s mother seems like a decent mother but her actions are pure noble idiocy. Your son needs you to tell him the truth and hug him. Only like this will he get to live in peace. Is this too hard to understand?
Ju-won and San-ha look sweet together, but there is no way San-ha’s mother will accept Ju-won as her daughter-in-law. Instead, she will try to separate them with all their might. San-ha might be head over heels for Ju-won, but that alone isn’t enough. San-ha needs to stand up for himself and not just ignore his mother’s calls so that he can protect Ju-won. Can’t we get some character growth already? Also, can someone please tell Hae-joon that Dal likes him and that they should date already?
