Goo Soo-kwang and Lee Seul-bi ponder realizations and regrets as fate separated them in the 8th episode of Jinxed At First.
As Lee Seul-bi tries to make a living with her fortune-telling abilities, Gong Soo-kwang was again furious to know what she has been doing. Realizing how much Soo-kwang resent her, Seul-bi personally went back to Geumhwa Hotel.

Jinxed At First Episode 8 Highlights
Previously on Jinxed At First, Lee Seul-bi spent the night inside Chief Wang’s and tried borrowing money from him the next day. This made Chief Wang wonder if she and Soo-kwang fought.
Nevertheless, Chief Wang left to get some money while Seul-bi is left alone with Dae-shik, who persuaded her to earn money with her ability.
“I can make money and rent a house. I can do it. Don’t tell me what I should do.”
Seul-bi then reaches out to a fortune-teller that also works in Seodong Market. Yi-young, Hyun-sook, Sung-deok, and the others were surprised to see Seul-bi there but eventually asked her to foresee their future.
Furthermore, they received warnings and advice from Seul-bi, which they all followed. On the other hand, Chief Wang and Soo-kwang search for Seul-bi again and finds her at the fortune-telling place.
After seeing Seul-bi using her powers, Soo-kwang furiously scolded her for using her powers again despite escaping from the people who use her for her ability. She then defended herself and explained to Soo-kwang that she wanted to live an ordinary life.
Meanwhile, Seul-bi’s warning to Young-woo’s mom to stop his husband from going to the oil shop saved him. At that time, the oil shop owner’s ex-husband went to the shop and tried to kill her.
With the help of Soo-kwang and police officers, the culprit was arrested. Additionally, Seul-bi returned to Min-joon after her fight with Soo-kwang.
“How much do you sell her? You had been in prison for 20 years. You poor thing. You should at least think how to take revenge.”
Jung Hyun-tae, Soo-kwang’s new employer, blurted out to everyone in Seodong Market that he is Seul-bi’s father after knowing her daughter has returned to Sam-joon’s hands.
With that, he spends his day drinking as he realizes that he is separated from Seul-bi again. Soo-kwang’s father figure, Mr. Go shares the same past as Hyun-tae and knows the secrets of Seul-bi and the Seon family.
In episode 7, Mr. Go warned him that Hyun-tae’s daughter should leave Soo-kwang’s side since he knows how dangerous and powerful the Seon family is.
Now that Seul-bi left Soo-Kwang, Mr. Go threatens Hyun-tae to also leave Soo-kwang since he has no reason to stay in the Lucky Fish Shop.
“I’m going back to Gong Soo-kwang… When I lived as Gong Soo-kwang, there was no good thing in my life. My parents died long ago. No one welcomes this name. No one likes it. So I gave it up. But after that, someone kept calling me Soo-kwang.”
Since Seul-bi’s left Soo-Kwang, he became lost in thoughts and checked his phone where Seul-bi hid a secret when they visited a church. He then saw three pictures of engraved words on stones read as ‘I Love You.”
With that, he realizes how important Seul-bi is to his life and how empty his life is without her. As a way to move forward and accept their fate, Soo-kwang starts anew by accepting his real name and removing his mask as Go Myeong-soo.
Furthermore, even though Seul-bi is no longer by his side, her good luck charm outmatches Soo-kwang’s misfortunes. Her predictions about the vendors of Seodong Market helped Soo-kwang to maintain his good relationships with them.
Jinxed At First Episode 8 Musings
Jinxed At First continues to break our hearts as fate separated Soo-kwang and Seul-bi in this episode. Seul-bi’s sadness and heartache shifted the series’ mood as we felt what Soo-kwang is feeling as well.
Despite the gloomy atmosphere the couple has set, the personalities of the Seodong Market vendors uplifted the mood. We also saw each of their character development and relate to their overwhelming support for Soo-kwang and Seul-bi.
Additionally, despite knowing that Seul-bi has magical abilities, they continue to treat her the same and don’t manipulate her. Also, Chief Wang continues to grow in my heart because of how his character is so pure despite his appearance.
Moreover, another mystery has unfolded about the witches of good fortune. From Sam-joong’s past memory, a nightmare that haunts him was the night when Mi-soo accidentally shot his mother.
However, the series surprises us as Mi-soo’s mother was shown alive and went to Soo-kwang to ask for the witch. The previous episode also showed that Seul-bi earnestly wants Soo-kwang to meet a certain woman.
With that, Mi-soo’s mother must be the woman Seul-bi is talking about in her prediction.
