Han Tae-sul’s Ironic Fate

With great riches and intellect come great responsibility and dangerous life. That has to be the apt description for Han Tae-sul. On top of that, he is not aware that business politics will soon dawn on him. Dodging an assassination attempt, he together with Seo-hae, encounters the group wanting a key he found in his brother’s suitcase.

The same suitcase is demanded by the Control Bureau previously. It was also confirmed that the bureau organizes the entrants from the future using a technology suggested to be Tae-sul’s invention.

After escaping the two groups, they were forced to tag along with a man from the future, who at present time was a police officer who is Seo-hae’s father’s junior. He returns to the present time fueled by filial love to his mother. Helping Seo-hae and Tae-sul escape, he hints of their not so friendly future encounter which is crucial to their expected mission.

Unable to get the information from the man he helped who promised information about his brother, Tae-sul is still tied in the baffling situation his genius mind can’t fathom.

Seo-hae’s Goal

Sympathizing with Seo-hae’s character and what really she plans to do at present time easily gets supporter. We saw her future life to be hunting deserted places showing traces of the vibrant past. She scours desolated areas in search of items useful for survival. Her sentiment upon experiencing a past that was gone from her present life of constant endurance game was established convincingly.

Still, we are yet to know why she deviated to her initial plan with her father. Also, will she be crossing with her present-time self and her father? Week 2 of Sisyphus The Myth brims with action sequences combining Tae-sul’s wit and Seo-hae’s grit. It was fascinating to see them outwit their opponents in this week’s enthralling chapters.

Gripping Plot

It felt like  five rounds of sprint competition after watching episodes 3 and 4 of Sisyphus. The heroes outsmarting their chasers made the doses of this week’s story really engaging. Giving an overview of how arduous Tae-sul and Seo-hae’s plight would be facing their adversaries.

At the end of episode 4, the two were forced to jump to the waters to escape the Control Bureau posed to capture them.

Sisyphus The Myth Episodes 3 & 4 Musings

What’s interesting so far in the series are the back stories that are unraveling in the present timeline that will affect in the future. However, it’s also quite tricky, as the presented picture leans on a tendency to confuse especially if people from the future are coming to the present. What happens to their present timeline counterparts then?

We know that a war broke out leaving the world destroyed and probably pushing people to travel to the future. If the Control Bureau knows of the expected chaos, why are they appearing villainous?

Will the rules be discussed on the basic premise that these sort of time-travelers as mentioned by Seo-hae are just taking the chance “out of regret” other than escaping the debilitating future? Or will it further explore how the future was altered because of Tae-sul’s fate and vice versa?

Raising quite a long list of questions, this series is best watched on a binge. The cliff-hangers are quite unapologetic and the intricate plot demands full attention. Nevertheless, if you can bear with waiting for its weekly doses, it’s definitely a gratifying watch.

We need more details of the war Seo-hae mentioned as well as the real purpose of the Control Bureau. Albeit displaying a big cast, we can narrow it down through their representative groups so it does not overwhelm.

I like all those techy tricks Tae-sul has been vaunting so far. It reminds me how much I slept on my science classes as a student. *chuckles Likewise, Park Shin Hye’s dauntless character is a refreshing watch coming from all the roles she has done so far. With or without eventual romance to be featured, I think I will still enjoy their chemistry credit to the compelling narrative.
