Sisyphus The Myth Episodes 9 & 10 Key Moments
“Go experience a plane crash. It’s the most thrilling ride ever.”
Knowing about Seo-hae’s birthday, Tae-sul decides for them to take a day off and grant her a birthday wish. Fulfilling her dream of enjoying a day at a theme park, Seo-hae drags him to try out the steady and thrilling rides.
While Tae-sul gets an ice cream for her, she meets her mom who is with young Seo-hae celebrating her birthday. Their holiday gets interrupted because Sigma made a move and reported their whereabouts to the Control Bureau.
“You must live even if it’s so unbearable that you don’t want to go on.”
Seo-hae was dragged out of the park with Tae-sul chasing behind to no avail. Imprisoned somewhere, Seo-hae recounts the heartbreaking last moments with her mother before the war broke out.
Knowing her fatal wound would not help her family’s situation, Seo-hae’s mother made her husband promise to protect their daughter. Her last words to Seo-hae encouraged her to survive no matter what in a bleak future where a thriving world barely exist.
When Seo-hae wakes up, the director of Control Bureau threatens her with injections that will make her disappear if she will not spill why she wants to meet Han Tae-sul. Refusing to talk, Seo-hae infuriates the director. Hyun-gi steals his fellow agent’s ID and goes to Seo-hae. He does not believe her claim that she did not kill her mother.
After injecting the last dose, he points a gun to Seo-hae who chides him on taking his own frustration to her when in fact he is angry at himself.
Also held captive by the Control Bureau are Mr. Park and his boys. Mr. Park cuts a deal with one of the guards to give Seon-ho’s medical pills. He obviously knows that something is bound to happen inside the facility.
“Yes, just leave it there. It’s my turn now.”
Tae-sul and Jae-sun work together to infiltrate the Control Bureau to rescue Seo-hae. With Sun successfully sneaking in the main server to give access to Tae-sul, the latter walks in to the hospital controlling the security access through his mobile phone.
Triggering the fire alarm, chaos ensues at the hospital. At that same moment, Gang Dong-gi (Seo-hae’s dad) discovers the odd report initiated when Go Yoon’s mom died. His curiosity made him to track Control Bureau director Hwang Hyun-seung. From speaking with Hyun-seung’s daughter, Gang Dong-gi encounters a Control Bureau agent which dropped a cryptic paper of his daughter’s name.
Summoning all the remaining strength she has, Seo-hae subdues Go Yoon and escapes the room she was held on. She weakly sat down somewhere until Tae-sul found her. Cutting a deal with Mr. Park, they escape to Asia Mart with one of Mr. Park’s boys wounded by Hyun-gi’s bullet. Thankfully, Dong-gi arrives at Jaae Hospital to subdue his junior. He also took him to their house for interrogation, but he refuses to reveal the organization he had newly-joined.
“The past is more terrifying than the present.”
Learning Seo-hae’s situation can lead to her disappearance in two days, Tae-sul uses his backdoor to the uploader technology to make Mr. Park spill a solution. He reveals an advance team was sent from the future to the past including him and Sigma.
Before heading to Agnes, the woman who knows the antidote for the Control Bureau’s vanishing-for-good injection, they stop by Seo-hae’s parents. Tae-sul tells them about the time machine which at first Seo-hae’s mom does not want to buy. Presenting future Seo-hae’s necklace, he showed how entities from the future serves as a copy of the present.
Arriving to an orphanage, Tae-sul walks to Agnes Kim’s office. Suddenly, he gets captured in a prison-like trap while reading a few research books displayed in a wooden shelf. Agnes Kim talks from a nearby place not revealing her face. Tae-sul spills his visit reason and surprises Agnes Kim with how he deciphered who she is.
It turns out she is Seo-jin from the future, and also a member of the advance party like Mr. Jang. Unknown to Tae-sul Sigma approaches, just as Seo-jin warns how he should have not came in that day, the door to the room opens.
Sisyphus The Myth Episodes 9 & 10 Musings
Through Seo-hae’s recollection, we got a glimpse of the disheartening choice her mother made for her to survive. Almost all the puzzle pieces are ready to complete the picture of Sisyphus The Myth as we look forward to more climactic events down the stretch. Finally, I also got the answer to why Seo-hae’s dad is repulsed on his daughter’s choice of meeting Tae-sul.
I love how Tae-sul used his technical skills again to save Seo-hae-in-distress. This week also affirms that the Control Bureau does not know much of future intelligence while Mr. Jang dropped essential plot clues critical to the future episodes.
It would be nice if there’s a plot twist of Tae-sul faked his eventual death and his future self goes back to present time to help. After all, his brother has been doing quite a leg work so there should be something to take from his brotherly love.
This week’s episodes of the series are quite important because the present time clues and future time knowledge are almost reaching oneness. I’m quite nervous to see tonight’s episode to be honest. As much as I love the surprises coming in, I still have a Memories of the Alhambra trauma. Thus, I’m really hoping the concluding episodes won’t disappoint.
