Inspector Koo Quick Plot Recap
Inspector Koo Kyung Yi’s (Lee Young Ae) life takes a 180-turn after blaming herself for the death of his husband, Jang Song Woo (Choi Young Joon). She spends most of her time playing video games and drinking alcohol inside her apartment.
However, it changes after Na Je Hee (Kwak Sun Young) and Oh Kyung Soo (Jo Hyun Chul) of NT Life Insurance persuade her to lead a murder case with a new gaming computer. Even though Kyung Yi does not take care of herself and her appearance, her passion as an inspector never lost its fire.
She accepted a unique and difficult case with no evidence collected for her team, to begin with. Nevertheless, with Kyung Yi’s clever moves, they were able to identify the murderer that happens to be connected with her husband’s death.
Similar to Kyung Yi’s unpredictable plans, Song Yi Kyung (Kim Hye Joon), or K, is known for her cold-hearted and well-planned murders. As the two rival and start their game of hide and seek, they found a similar enemy that wants to take them down.
Inspector Koo Series Peak Points + Musings *Spoilers Alert
A New Look In Investigative Dramas
Watching Inspector Koo is a breath of fresh air to me because of its characters and unpredictable plot. The production team of the series showed their efforts through the hooking and creative way of storytelling.
Even though many writers and directors are now being inclusive, legal dramas are usually led by male leads. They also created the image of most murderers as physically disturbing and dominant.
However, Inspector Koo proved that women can also be charismatic and frightening with this kind of genre. The portrayal of actress Kim Hye Joon as a murderer is an example of how the series gave birth to a disturbing yet lovely character.
Her backstory story proved that the trauma that she experienced led her to be cruel and heartless to other people. Treating and talking about mental disorders is important, but we commend Inspector Koo for not justifying mental disabilities as a reason to kill.
With characters like Yi Kyung, Yong Sook, and Hyun Tae, they proved that true evils are born, and some are made. The cast also made the series’ dark humor even darker with their unparalleled performance.
When Fire Meets Fire
Koo Kyung Yi and So Yi Kyung’s face-off only fuels the series’ top-notch and fiery narrative. Inspector Koo also showed us what happens if phenomenal actors happen to be in one drama series.
As we met the cast of Inspector Koo, we see many familiar faces from famous different series that heightens our expectations for Inspector Koo. Even though the series started a bit weak, there is something about its narrative that convinced us to wait and have more expectations.
However, the cast did not disappoint and continues to heat things up through their passionate portrayals. Despite being new in the industry, Kim Hye Joon proved why she is chosen to play the queen in Kingdom and as K for Inspector Koo.
She served different and new things that we both love and hate at the same. Her working together with Kim Hae Sook (Along With The Gods), Lee Hong Nae (The Uncanny Counter), Bae Hae Seon (Hotel De Luna), and more showed that she is worthy of playing lead roles.
Veteran actress Lee Young Ae also showed authenticity thus giving birth to a unique character in the series. Despite pausing from being an actress since her performance in Jewel In The Palace, she also proved that she can take different roles and make them her own.
The series takes a while to your system, the moment it does, you’ll find rooting for the big picture of the story.
