Reflection of You precisely fulfilled its promise of showcasing remarkable performances from Go Hyun Jung and Shin Hyun Been.

Consistently providing an engrossing tale, JTBC’s Reflection of You weaves its narrative through themes of love, betrayal, corruption, and vengeance. This drama also depicted the two women’s share of a harmonious life that became entwined in an ill-fated relationship.

Reflection of You Quick Plot Recap

Jung Hee-joo (Go Hyun Jung), a successful painter and essayist who lives with her ideal family and a loving husband beside her, begins to fray when she runs across Gu Hae-won (Shin Hyun Been) again.

Meeting with Hae-won after so many years, Hee-joo believes that Hae-won’s suddenly becoming involved with those precious to her is not all a mere coincidence. In fact, she thinks that Hae-won has an ulterior motive, especially for assaulting her daughter Li-sa.

Hee-joo’s perfect life consequently crumbled when the person she never expected to see again appeared in the art exhibit she longed for and worked so hard to arrange.

A Compelling Plot Direction

Jung Hee-jo met Hae-won briefly in the past while she was enrolled in a language class in Ireland. The two form a bond as a result of Hee-jo seeing her past self in Hae-won.

However, their great friendship deteriorates when Hae-won’s senior Seo Woo-jae takes on her substitute mentoring for Hee-joo in her pursuit of art.

In the latter part of the series, Hee-joo and Woo-jae eventually had a forbidden affair. For a brief moment, during Woo-jae’s missing days and without even telling Hae-won why he left, Woo-jae and Hee-joo lived together with their son.

After learning of their unlawful relationship, Hae-won’s motives are clear for getting her revenge. She wanted Hee-joo and Woo-jae to feel as miserable as she did when Woo-jae ran away.

This is not the only revelation in Reflection of You, but all along Choi Won-young, who is Hee-joo’s husband, was aware of her affair throughout the series. Despite this, he is unconcerned with his wife’s infidelity as long as she stays in their family.

5 Reasons Why “Reflection of You” Can Reel You Into Its Compelling Story

Two Women’s Powerful Cast Portrayals

Go Hyun Jung’s portrayal of Jung Hee-joo was exactly what viewers could expect from the series. I could also feel her anxiety, notably during the scene in which her son was taken on his birthday. Additionally, there is a moment in which she expresses her pain after secretly burying Woo-jae’s body.

Meanwhile, for a promising actress, Shin Hyun Been outdid herself as the vengeful Gu Hae-won. Without a doubt, you can feel how miserable her life was, particularly during the time her grandfather died and when her outbursts finally surfaced following the agonizing years she had long suppressed.

Reflection of You Series Musings

Reflection of You not only directed an excellent drama, but also focused on its underlying message of letting go. Relaying on Hae-won’s detachment from her past for her new beginning, as she pursued her dream of being an artist.

Of course, not every story has a happy ending. For Hee-joo, who abandoned her family and now lives a lonely existence because of her actions.

Wrapping up the plot of Reflection of You by giving the two women’s stories the life they merit gives the drama a reasonably just finish. This also implies that we should always tread lightly with our compulsive thinking and be content with what we now have.
