The Ghost Detective Plot Recap

Jung Yeo Wool (Park Eun Bin) has decided to work as an assistant for a private detective agency, in an attempt to uncover the truth behind her younger sister’s death.

She works together with Lee Da Il ( Choi Daniel), without knowing that he is already a spirit.

Sun Woo Hye (Lee Ji Ah) is a mysterious lady in red who seems to be related to the increasing number of suicide cases in the area.

The Mystery that is Sunwoo Hye

It will be hard to imagine watching The Ghost Detective without Sunwoo Hye, that’s a fact. She is eerily intriguing and as captivating as the red dress which she loves to wear. An antagonist which you will love to hate, yet you can’t help but empathize with as her back story starts to get exposed.

What set Da – Il and Yeo Wool apart ( from the rest of the other target victims)

There is something in common between Da- Il and Yeo-Wool aside from their initial common ground, which is the detective agency. Da-Il’s mom and Yeo Wool’s younger sister were both victims of Sunwoo Hye’s whims, so it is no wonder that our two protagonists are doing their utmost best to prevent more victims.

Squad Goals: the efforts of the supporting characters

Sunwoo Hye is definitely a tough nut to crack, despite Da Il’s and Yeo Wool’s best efforts. That’s why it was an encouragement to witness the two of them getting more support as members of their squad keep increasing.

With the addition of Han Sang Sub (Kim Won Hae), who is Lee Da Il’s partner in the detective agency, and Gil Chae Won (Lee Joo Young), a medical examiner who has shaman skills; the team efficiently collaborate to resolve the mystery.

The Ghost Detective Series Musings

The Ghost Detective is a literal roller-coaster drama, with plenty of ups and downs. I felt conflicted towards the last episode. Despite the solid and consistent acting performance of the cast members, somehow the sequence of events in the end especially after the one-year gap seems too bizarre. Still, I admit that I enjoyed the ride.
