Rising stars Choo Young Woo and Shin Si Ah are joining forces in the much-anticipated Korean film adaptation of Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight (LT), a youth melodrama that promises both emotional depth and refreshing charm.
Helmed by director Kim Hye-young, the film is a remake of the beloved Japanese novel by Ichijo Misaki, which was previously adapted into a record-breaking romance film in Japan. Now reimagined with Korean sensibilities, this version officially kicks off production on July 5, following a recent script reading session that signaled the beginning of this heartfelt journey.
The story follows Kim Jae-won (Choo Young Woo), a directionless high school student whose life takes an unexpected turn when he meets Han Seo-yoon (Shin Si Ah), a vibrant girl suffering from anterograde amnesia—a condition that causes her memories to reset each morning. Together, they weave a delicate and moving love story built on fleeting moments and genuine connection.
Choo Young-woo, making his big-screen debut, is set to showcase a compelling emotional arc, transforming from a jaded teen into someone who learns to open his heart and embrace love. “I loved both the original novel and the film,” he shared. “The moment I got the offer, I knew I had to be part of it. I’m committed to doing this role justice.”
Meanwhile, Shin Si Ah, whose rising star status was solidified through The Witch 2 and Resident Playbook, takes on the emotionally complex role of Han Seo-yoon. With her refreshing presence and emotive range, she’s poised to become a new icon of first love. “As a longtime fan of the story, I’m incredibly excited,” she said. “I’ll pour my heart into every scene to connect deeply with the audience.”
Backed by Bypoem Studio, known for its work on Firefighter and Match, and produced by Bluefire Studio (a subsidiary of Red Ice Studio, creators of webtoon hits Only I Level Up and Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint), the film brings together a powerhouse team. With Kim Hye-young—lauded for her debut feature It’s Okay, It’s Okay!—in the director’s chair, expectations are high for a moving and beautifully crafted romance.
Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight is set to begin filming in July, with a theatrical release targeted for later this year. With a star-studded team, a story that tugs at the heartstrings, and two breakout leads at the helm, this remake is poised to be one of the year’s most talked-about love stories.
