Expanding her big screen presence, Lee Ji Eun (aka IU) is confirmed for Hirokazu Koreeda’s debut film, Broker.
She will join top-tier actors Song Kang Ho, Bae Doona and Gang Dong Won. The exact filming is yet to be set, but it is slated to start filming in the first half of 2021.
Award-winning director Hirokazu Koreeda has a few notable films under his belt. His film Shoplifters won the 2018 Cannes Film Festival Palme d’Or.
For his first venture in Korean film industry, he will work on an original screenplay that has been conceived for a long time. The esteemed filmmaker was reportedly working on the scenario of the film for the past month.
Broker threads on the story of people who work together for a “baby box” project. It allows people who cannot raise children to leave their babies anonymously (Modern Korean Cinema).
IU is also set to star in the film, Dream, with Park Seo Joon this year. Just recently, she also made quite a splash with her recent track release, “Celebrity”.
