Netflix is setting the stage for its next big action hit with Mantis, premiering exclusively on September 26.
The newly released main trailer and poster for Mantis tease a world where the old rules of contract killing have completely crumbled, leaving a brutal battleground of assassins competing for the coveted No. 1 spot. With sleek visuals, layered rivalries, and a story brimming with betrayal, Mantis is already generating buzz as one of the year’s most stylish action thrillers.
In the film, Im Si Wan portrays Han-ul, better known as the legendary “Mantis.” Returning from a long hiatus, Han-ul discovers that his former company, MK Entertainment, is on the verge of collapse. Instead of returning to the fold, he decides to carve his own path by founding “Mantis Company.” To do this, he partners with Jae-yi (Park Gyu Young), a former trainee and fierce rival whose sharp ambition and unpredictable nature bring tension and chemistry to their uneasy alliance.
The stakes rise even higher with the return of Dokgo (Jo Woo Jin), Han-ul’s former mentor and a legendary assassin in his own right. Dokgo resurfaces with his sights set on reclaiming leadership at MK Entertainment, setting the stage for a dangerous power struggle that pits student against teacher in a game of survival and shifting loyalties.
Adding another layer of intrigue is Benjamin (Choi Hyun Wook), a sharp-eyed investor and gaming company CEO, who recognizes Jae-yi’s talent and tempts her to reconsider her loyalty to Han-ul. His intervention sparks questions of trust, ambition, and self-interest, leaving Jae-yi caught between allegiance and opportunity.
The trailer reveals exactly what fans can expect: rhythm-driven fight choreography, visually striking action set pieces, and a charged atmosphere where every alliance could shatter at any moment. Beneath the explosive action lies a story of ambition, rivalry, and the dangerous cost of chasing the top spot in a lawless industry.
Directed by first-time filmmaker Lee Tae-sung, Mantis combines pulse-pounding action with layered character dynamics, making it a standout entry in Netflix’s growing lineup of original films. With its mix of stylish violence, psychological games, and unpredictable partnerships, Mantis is shaping up to be more than just an action movie—it’s a survival story where skill, wit, and strategy determine who rises and who falls.
Audiences can mark their calendars: Mantis streams worldwide on Netflix starting September 26.
