Netflix Drops Teaser Trailer for “The Great Flood” – A Sci-Fi Disaster Film of Survival and Sacrifice

Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for The Great Flood, its upcoming sci-fi disaster film set to stream on December 19.

The Great Flood imagines the world’s final day as a catastrophic flood engulfs the planet, leaving a handful of survivors trapped in a collapsing apartment building. With its mix of tense survival drama and grand-scale spectacle, the film promises both emotional depth and heart-racing suspense.

The teaser begins quietly, capturing the calm routine of An-na (Kim Da Mi), an artificial intelligence researcher, as she shares a tender morning moment with her young son, Ja-in (Kwon Eun-seong). Their fragile peace quickly breaks apart when torrential rains and unstoppable floodwaters submerge their world, forcing them into a desperate fight for survival.

As the waters rise and panic sets in, the trailer highlights the intensity of their struggle: narrow escapes, crumbling walls, and a haunting rooftop confrontation where An-na must make an impossible decision. When survival seems hopeless, Hee-jo (Park Hae Soo), a member of a security team, arrives with a secret mission that could hold the key to humanity’s future.

Adding to the intrigue, brief flashes reveal larger mysteries—a rocket prepared for launch, strange golden fragments, and hints of a broader narrative that stretches far beyond the sinking apartment walls. These elements suggest The Great Flood will not only be a survival story but also a thought-provoking exploration of science, sacrifice, and the lengths people will go to preserve hope.

Directed by Kim Byung-woo, known for his meticulous and immersive storytelling, the film is powered by standout performances from Kim Da-mi and Park Hae-soo, whose emotional depth grounds the larger-than-life disaster in human stakes.

The Great Flood is set to premiere at the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) before streaming worldwide on Netflix starting December 19.
