Netflix film Unlocked drops the launch date along with a poster and lead characters’ sketches.
Unlocked is a realistic thriller about an ordinary office worker who loses her smartphone containing all her personal information and begins to face threats in her daily life.
It contains the worst situations that can happen after losing a smartphone, which contains all personal information and privacy, as well as social security numbers and account numbers.
Moreover, it is expected to provide realistic fear and empathy to viewers living in a time when life without a smartphone is unimaginable.
Unveiled in the poster is an interesting peek at the lead stars Im Si Wan and Chun Woo Hee staring through from a smartphone camera.
Im Si Wan, who imprinted a shining presence by drawing favorable reviews from critics and audiences for his villainous performance in Emergency Declaration, seeks another intense transformation in Unlocked.
In the film, he portrays Jun-young a man who approaches Nami (Chun Woo Hee) after picking up her phone. He portrays a person who commits a gruesome crime using a smartphone with unflinching eyes.
Meanwhile, Chun Woo Hee, who has shown unique acting and characters through works such as Waiting For Rain, Anchor and Be Melodramatic takes on the role of Nami, a marketer at a start-up company. She is an office worker who lives hard day by day. After recovering the smartphone she lost, she gets caught up in an unexpected incident and her normal daily life is shaken.
Chun Woo Hee is expected to arouse sympathy from viewers by convincingly showing the wide range of emotions of Nami, who goes through changes because of that incident.
Joining the lead cast is trusted actor Kim Hee Won, who worked on Perhaps Love, Voice and Pawn to name a few. He adds tension as Ji-man, a detective chasing the murderer. He finds traces of his son Junyeong at the scene of the murder of a dead body found in the hills, and is expected to double the sense of immersion by continuing the chase with an ominous intuition that his son might be the culprit.
Director Kim Tae-joon, who is in charge of writing and directing Unlocked, is raising expectations as a talented person who has accumulated solid skills through his long career in the directing department.
“I thought of the smartphone as another actor and the main character of the movie, and I wanted to capture the various aspects of the smartphone. Anyone who uses a smartphone can think of this story as their own story and it is an immersive movie that can be hooking and contemplative.”
Unlocked will be exclusively streamed on Netflix beginning February 17.
