Yeon Sang-ho’s New Movie Begins Full-Scale Filming with All-Star Cast Led by Jun Ji Hyun

The highly anticipated film Gunche Colony (LT) directed by Yeon Sang-ho, has officially begun full-scale production, boasting a powerhouse cast that includes Jun Ji Hyun, Koo Kyo Hwan, Ji Chang Wook, Shin Hyun Been, Kim Shin Rok, and Go Soo.

With its intriguing premise and stellar lineup, Gunche has already become one of the most talked-about projects in the Korean film industry.

Gunche unravels a chilling tale of a building sealed off due to an unidentified virus. As the infection spreads, the affected individuals undergo unpredictable mutations, turning them into a new kind of threat for the remaining survivors. Known for pushing creative boundaries with films like Train to Busan and Peninsula, as well as series like Hellbound and Parasyte: The Gray, Yeon Sang-ho’s latest work promises another thrilling experience that blends horror, action, and suspense.

A Star-Studded Cast Sparks Global Excitement

The announcement of Gunche’s cast has created a buzz not just in Korea but worldwide. Leading the ensemble is Jun Ji Hyun, an icon in the Korean film industry, marking her long-awaited return to the big screen after nearly a decade since Assassination. This also marks her first collaboration with Yeon Sang-ho, a partnership that has already set high expectations.

Joining her is Ji Chang Wook, known for his dynamic performances across film and television. With Gunche, he takes on a fresh challenge, stepping into Yeon Sang-ho’s cinematic universe for the first time. Meanwhile, Go Soo, making a special appearance, further enriches the film’s impressive lineup.

Adding to the excitement, Grove reunites Yeon Sang-ho with trusted collaborators Koo Kyo Hwan, Shin Hyun Been, and Kim Shin Rok—actors who have previously delivered compelling performances in his projects.

Koo Kyo Hwan, an in-demand star across various genres, strengthens his bond with the director after working on Peninsula, The Gossip, and Parasyte: The Gray.

Shin Hyun Been, known for her versatility across mystery, drama, and romance, returns to Yeon’s world after The Gossip and the upcoming film Revelation.

Meanwhile, Kim Shin Rok, a breakout star recognized globally for her unique character portrayals in Hellbound and other projects, once again teams up with Yeon, further solidifying Grove’s powerhouse lineup.
