Representing 2020 Korean dramas, movies and artists; “Crash Landing on You”, “Parasite” and BTS got the top badge in their respective categories as most loved by foreign fans!
Last year, many Korean dramas were welcomed which overseas hallyu fans adored and enjoyed watching. According to the Korean Foundation for International Culture Exchange and Culture Ministry Crash Landing on You is the most voted K-Drama with 9.5 percentage of the poll.
Hallyu fans can’t be blamed for it because the chemistry between Captain Ri and Se Ri really pierced to the hearts of K-Drama fans regardless of their age. Other Korean dramas which scored in the charts are It’s Okay Not to be Okay with 4.1% and the The World of Married with 2.8%.
Since hallyu fans are also associated with Korea’s pop culture, BTS stayed on the top spot with 22 percent of the votes, followed by BLACKPINK and Psy with 13.5% and 2.9% respectively.
This order is still aligned with the turnout from last year. Notably, most voters chose BTS and BLACKPINK as their favorite singers further solidifying the respective groups top status.
In the Korean film district, award-winning Parasite continued its reign with 18.4%. Interestingly, Train to Busan is still decking quite popularity with 10.2% while its sequel Peninsula gathered 3.5 percent of the votes.
The report stated that these votes came from 18 countries with 8,500 hallyu consumers around the globe. Even though there are still negative sentiments about hallyu, we can’t deny that the Korean wave has been broadening its range in reaching several countries and hearts of the fans no matter their language or race.
It is also given that year 2020 has a lot of unexpected happenings, but there are still small joys that can give a smile to our faces such as the Korean dramas, movies and inspirational songs coming from our favorite singers that warm our hearts amidst the pandemic.
