As much as we find Wu Bai adorably groping on how to express his love, he really needs to pick up more flirting skills from Shen Zhe. Thankfully, our smart hero is progressing at a lightning speed, and we hope he would really brave the odds to finally claim Ai Qing.

Go Go Squid 2 Dt.Appledog’s Time Episodes 9 & 10 Key Moments
“Yeah, the one to sit there has the noblest body in the world after all. He’s liked her for over ten years. It’s been tough for him.”
Staring blankly and missing Ai Qing already, Wu Bai gets a love advice from Shen Zhe while pretending he needs it for a friend. Citing the possibility of visiting her is possible amidst quite a long commuting time, Shen Zhe pitches he needs a car and it will be all good.
Recapping Shen Zhe’s idea, Wu Bai retorts how he might disturb her if she’s busy, so Shen Zhe steps on the jealousy pedal suggesting it is definitely possible for Ai Qing to be busy especially meeting boys. The “friendly reminder” worked instantly and Wu Bai agrees to get a new car out of his deep pocket.
The next day, carefully getting a car that will be comfy to ride for Ai Qing and even her father, Wu Bai busied himself checking the specs and signs up for it right away. But not without getting a cute teasing from Shen Zhe of him being a whipped man. Serving his purpose, he tells Wu Bai that he will meet Ai Jing.

“Seriously, do you still remember it?”
Sitting as an audience at Ai-Jing’s musical rehearsal, Shen Zhe ups his love game teasing her of their previous sweet interlude. Pretending not to bother, she escapes his advances when she clearly remembers it.
He asks her if she can give him a chance to know more about her to which she responded already granted. Whining how she never answered his calls nor responded to her WeChat messages, she tells him it’s better to meet in person.
Impressing her with his piano skills, he tells her that he also has a lot of sides that she can be interested with. Ai Jing finally agrees for them to get to know each other.
“A hot guy is on your door, hold on to him!”
Leaving K&K camp early, Wu Bai reckons the forget-me-not-wall he painted three years ago and steps out of his new car to wait for Ai Qing. His lady love was forced to wake up because of her sister who also spotted him outside early in the morning.
Ai Jing coaches her to take care of the hot guy who paid her a visit and left hurriedly for her own business. Quickly making herself presentable, AI Qing goes to the terrace and greeted Wu Bai who asked her to have breakfast with him.
The smitten Wu Bai let her picked the place and food for their breakfast which he happily munched on. She asked why he came to visit when the camp is far away, and worried about him not getting enough sleep. Thank heavens Wu Bai scored a goal with his answer. He invites her to go to the competition next month and even offered her to ride on Team K&K bus.
“The speed of the weapon should be consistent with the throttle.”
Back at the camp, 97 was elated to receive takeaway food from his captain only to spit the same breakfast he had with Ai Qing because of its weird taste. Wu Bai finds Shen Zhe struggling with trashcan and gives him an on the spot lesson by maneuvering his robot smoothly.
Challenging him with his goal to work on a robot typically maneuvered by two players, Wu Bai tells Shen Zhe that he will do extra two-hands coordination training. If he won’t master the coordination, another team member will help him. Working hard, Shen Zhe truly achieved his goal in two weeks and has become one with flawless navigating of trashcan.
Meanwhile, Ai Qing already worked on slating herself to the Suzhou competition. On the day of departure to Suzhou, Wu Bai excitedly wait for Ai Qing.
His happiness seeing her faded abruptly when Team SP led by Solo also approached to ride with them since their vehicle met a problem. Time for Ai Qing to go on board and she sees “pick me” to be your seatmate faces from her ex-bf and hopefully-future-bf. Nonchalantly, she tells Wu Bai that she will sit at the back, but thanks to inertia she faltered directly on Wu Bai’s embrace.
“We’re talking about the red packets for the lunar new year.”
Taking advantage of the long drive, Wu Bai goes to where Ai Qing is and lets her settle on his shoulder as she sleeps. When she wakes up, his excuse of wanting to have a good look on his team, earned a praise from Ai Qing who thinks he is a considerate captain.
On that note, he asks her opinion of how much he will give the boys in the coming Lunar New Year celebration. Their moment gets halted when the sleeping passengers in the bus woke up because of a sudden break.
Looking for their captain, they find him sitting beside Ai Qing, and she is quick to explain that they’re talking about red packets.
The team settles at Suzhou and easily nabs the first game with Shen Zhe’s seamless maneuvering of ‘trashcan’. From afar, Ai Qing beams seeing Team K&K and gets reminded of how it was for her with Team Solo years back. Wu Bai sees her nostalgic face and asks her through a text message if they can have dinner together to which she agrees.
“Not yet, but very soon.”
Mustering courage, Wu Bai asked Ai Qing to have a meal with him to which she agrees. But prepping up for a dinner date is surely hard especially if your wardrobe consist of black-colored clothing. Wu Bai forced his boys for a team huddle to help him pick the right shirt. Good thing, Shen Zhe is there to rescue their captain to which sleek outfit he should wear.
At the restaurant, Wu Bai chances upon Lin Yin, a player he competed in the European League previously. He blabs about Wu Bai’s exceptional performance in the competition and how he was feared by the players. Refusing to believe Ai Qing is not his girlfriend, the two speaks in French and Wu Bai makes a bold love forecast that Ai Qing is not his girl yet, but soon she will be.
“if you go, I’ll go.”
After their meal, they head for a quick walk. Ai Qing takes the opportunity to invite him in the party organized by the company, and he agrees as long as she will go.
Just then, Ai Qing got accidentally drenched by water. Holding his fury to the careless port worker, Wu Bai takes off his jacket to cover her. Back at the hotel room, he gets some hot water and cold medicine to give to Ai Qing.
Expecting some water to be delivered, Ai Qing opened the door and found Wu Bai. Temperature rises when she dropped her towel and Wu Bai accidentally gets a faint peek on her chest.
At the KTV party, Teams K&K and SP go for rounds of singing and merry-making. From afar, Wu Bai watches Ai Qing fondly singing with her former teammates. When Ai Qing excused herself to go to the washroom, Wu Bai follows but halted when Wang Hao called him. Casually mentioning the party would have been nice if his cousing Han Shangyan joined them, it surprised Ai Qing who learned of Wu Bai’s connection to Shangyan.
That strikes an emotional chord to Ai Qing who excused herself. Walking aimlessly, she reminisces the pain in her past.
“The name Han Shangyan brought me back to reality. I wish I could forget what happened that day.”
She looks back on the event that caused Team Solo’s disbandment, when she opted to leave for Wang Hao to stay. Surmising her growing fondness with Wu Bai, who is leading a team full of people pursuing dreams, it reminds her of that past situation.
“Some people have great dreams, full of hope. They won’t settle before winning a grand slam and having a national flag on them. Ai Qing, you are one of them.”
Wang Hao beat Wu Bai in getting Ai Qing for a quick talk. He offers her a job to be SP’s Team No. 1 leader promising he will get back on-board their old team members. Swayed by Wang Hao’s proposal, she acknowledges how he knows her well as an old friend and lets him know that she will think it over for a week.
She is unaware that Wu Bai is staring from afar. Wu Bai sends her a message apologizing how he did not tell her connection about Han Shangyan. He explains how he knows her old team’s breakup caused her pain so he did not bring it up.
Finding her sister on a pensive mood, Ai Jing reaches for the folder and browses on it. Ai Qing tells about Wang Hao offer which she is still contemplating. Ai Jing responds how she knows she wants to do it and shares how she blabbed about it when she was drunk.
Encouraging Ai Qing to accept the offer since deep in her heart she wants to get a championship, she gives her a pep talk not to worry about the rumors that might stir while working together with Wang Hao. Following her sister’s advice, she meets Zhou Hua (Slide) to get clearer help to the decision she was about to make.
True to her sister’s insight, going to Zhou Hua who showed her old team’s success video pushed her to make a choice. She also learned about Slide’s early retirement was caused by a feud with his teammates in Germany. Asking him if he still wants to play, she gets a yes and seals the decision she has been thinking about.
“I heard the sound of my heart breaking when I made the decision because it means Wu Bai and I are impossible.”
Calling Wang Hao for her answer, she bargains Slide to be her deciding chip to his offer. Wang Hao gladly agrees and even tells her that the team is planning to recruit him. Ai Qing stares at a glass wall and ponders how she heard her heart literally broke because her choice would make her and Wu Bai impossible to happen anymore.
“I heard the sound of my heart breaking when I made the decision because it means Wu Bai and I are impossible.”
Ai Qing tells her family about her decision and gets a hearty encouragement from her father to do what she wants and he’s always there to back her up.
Go Go Squid 2 Dt.Appledog’s Time Episodes 9 & 10 Musings
Chasing dreams is a common theme in C-dramaland. But what made Go Go Squid 2 Dt.Appledog‘s Time’s take on that theme is its resonating effect of tugging the heart of people who might have reached their dreams at some point, but had to step back because life circumstances kicked in.
Ample showing of friendship coupled with the engrossing romance stories presented so far has really made me love Tuesdays to Thursdays. Moving to an uncomplicated plot, the series is capitalizing on the richness of the characters’ emotions to bring out its gravitating point.
Wu Bai’s devotion to his goddess warrants a culminating scene that would make us scream YES – because he definitely deserves it. Dramas delving on atypical career easily attracts attention because of its world being unfamiliar. Just like any workplace dramas though, it has a risky line of going boring especially if the lengthy run does not highlight plot curves.
We are yet to experience the full-throttle display of the incorporated combat robot world, but the display of the romance and character connections has made this series really engaging.
Ai Qing’s Predicament
Swiftly moving, our focus in this series has always been how Wu Bai’s unrequited adoration would be returned. Now that the love pairing would be challenged because of their respective careers, I am even more curious to what will unfold in the narrative. There’s a tinge of drama knowing Wu Bai’s dreams has always been aligned to Ai Qing’s happiness.
I hope the emotional strength she has, would sustain the thought of her indirectly hurting Wu Bai in her decision because of her not being aware of the lengths he had gone out of love for her.
Ai Qing has made a heartfelt confession of her mutual feeling with Wu Bai in episode 10. However, having experienced the risk of how romantic relationship might make the vision of the team go awry, she painfully decides how she cannot pursue happiness knowing the promising future Wu Bai can evolve to.
If you have not tune up yet to this series, better do it now less you’ll miss the healing and heart-fluttering moments.
