“Do you know why she refused you?”
Finding her sister at an awkward about-to-kiss position with her boyfriend, Ai Qing takes the cue and gives them space to continue. But Ai Jing pushes Shen Zhe and tells him to leave, reminding him to come visit the third day after the new year.
On Lunar New Year’s Eve, Ai Jing happily chats with Shen Zhe over the phone planning his official visit as her boyfriend. That’s an exact opposite to the gloomy mood of Ai Qing and Wu Bai thinking of each other.
Han Shangyan arrives to cut Wu Bai’s reverie who discussed a little about business, then proceeded to pry about his progress with Ai Qing. Obliging an unsolicited advice to his younger cousin brother, Shangyan tells him how Ai Qing is even more timid than him when it comes to love.
He also opened up how she blamed herself for the team’s breakup when they never blamed her for it. Advising him to help her tackle each problem with her
“Don’t crave for love like a child craving for candies. You should become a real worthy opponent. A real man who can stand side by side with her.”
“It takes patience and persistence to chase a girl.”
From his cousin’s pep talk, Wu Bai goes for another round of chasing-a-girl-advice with grandpa. After giving him a red packet, he tells his wish for him to have a girlfriend soon. He also encouraged him of his own methods of winning a girl’s heart based on his own experience.
Going for a walk alone, Ai Qing spots ladies prepping to go to Fox Hu’s concert, her favorite singer. She remembers her almost date with Wu Bai three years ago.
“If it was regret three years ago, then at this moment, I can clearly feel a sudden sense of loss. I know that I’m in love with a boy named Wu Bai. But when I finally realized that, I’ve already lost him.”
Refusing to give up, Wu Bai goes to a candy store to buy the chocolate jars looking for the wrapped love notes. Thankfully, the store clerk easily finds the note he is looking for.
“No one has ever walked into my heart until you showed up.”
Leaving both jars to the store clerk, Wu Bai holds on to the chocolate he needs to win Ai Qing’s heart.
“Actually, I went to the concert three years ago.”
Fate must be working its way to bring Ai Qing and Wu Bai together as they both go to Fox Hu’s New Year concert. Surprised to see Wu Bai, she finally learns that he did go to the concert three years ago. He explains about the reason why he had to leave and the risky eye surgery he had to undergo.
Listening to what Wu Bai has been through in the last three years, he gets the lone chocolate he got from the jar and declares it to be his last chance. He takes her hand and places the chocolate on her palm and asks her to decide again.
“Since I was 15, I’ve been fighting for the qualifications to have the right of standing right next to you. I know I’ll keep going forward, until I can stand side by side with you, experiencing all failures and glories.”

Unwrapping the chocolate wrapper, Ai Qing reads Wu Bai’s love note and looks back on the first time she heard him say it. Ai Jing curiously asks why she’s on a trance and reads the chocolate wrapper message.
Convincing her of how the universe conspired already for them to be together, she asks what’s holding her back. Ai Qing replies about them working in the same industry and her woes that he’s too popular for her.
She voices out her fear of affecting other people because of her personal affection. Telling her not to make excuses, Ai Jing makes it simpler by asking her if she likes him or not, but she’s unable to reply.
“You have Ai Qing’s home address, right?”
Shen Zhe calls Wu Bai for a proposal to visit the sisters and meet their father-in-law, but he flatly refuses. Grandpa who overheard their conversation has had enough of his grandson’s love timidity and goes to handle it on his own.
He goes shopping with Wu Liao, which effectively helped grandpa with his plans on visiting his future daughter-in-law. Enjoying his shopping spree, Grandpa delights on Wu Liao’s e-wallet taking charge of the payments. Wu Bai, who was notified with the expenses, wonders what has been happening. Wu Liao also helped grandpa call the driver and prepare the navigation to go to Ai Qing’s place.
But, at that same day, the sisters are forced to meet a prospective suitor arranged by their grandmother. Their father freely tells them to consider going out or not. Just then, Ai Jing got a message that Shen Zhe is already there.
Knowing Wu Liao and Grandpa are headed to Ai Qing’s house, Wu Bai rushes to go there and finds her talking to Shen Zhe outside. Ai Qing explains the blind date setup for them and the man upstairs hoping he can explain it to Shen Zhe. But she made a wrong move because Wu Bai is also territorial and opted to unleash kraken Shen Zhe to stop the blind date.
Right on cue, Grandpa arrives to bring gifts to Ai Qing and even cutely mistaken the blind date to be an uncle in Ai Qing’s family. Learning his real purpose, Grandpa coolly joins the situation and an instand group blind date ensues.
“You found him. You deal with him.”
Grandpa sure knows how to stake their claim on Ai Qing. Thankfully, Wu Bai knows how to follow his lead and was able to use his robot son to make the blind date’s qualifications less favorable.
Wu Liao joins the group blind date specifically highlighting the blind date’s age is risky of health related concerns. Grandpa helped nail a fitting blow by instantly gifting health supplements for him.
Happily not wanting to stop building up Wu Bai, Grandpa points out how his grandson and Ai Qing have common interest working in the same field. Just when the blind date thoughts he has a convincing edge for having two apartments and ample money, Grandpa made him look poor by suggesting he would buy a Shanghai villa for his grandson and future grand-daughter-in-law.
Ai Qing’s father and Wu Bai’s Grandpa politely bid goodbye. Thanks to grandpa, Wu Bai also got a chance to hold AI Qing’s hand.
“I never played fireworks with a girl before.”
Shen Zhe and Ai Jing arrive at their destination. Unfortunately because of the weather, they won’t be able to light fireworks. Suggesting to play a game, Ai Jing explains taking turns to reveal things and if it is true, they will have to take a beer shot.
Both get to drink shots with their revelations. Knowing the right romantic words to say, Shen Zhe confessed he has not played fireworks with a girl yet. But Ai Jing also has the same fate.
Taking charge, Shen Zhe lists all the things he has only done for Ai Qing.
“I never professed my feelings to anyone. I never loved another girl like I love you.” Thinking he lost with his confession, Ai Qing takes the can and makes the same confession before drinking bottoms up. She plants a kiss on his lips, and gets another dose of the same sweetness from him.
It would have been a perfect night if not for Shen Zhe’s ex-GF who drew a your-mom-likes-me trump card. He is forced to join them for a sightseeing the next day. Unfortunately, Ai Jing learns about it and they inescapably fight.
No matter how much Shen Zhen pleads, Zhouzhou is resigned to the idea of getting back their relationship.
“Ai Qing we need your help.”
Venting her frustration to her sister, Ai QIng is forced to listen to Ai Jing’s ramble about Shen Zhe. At K&K camp, Shen Zhe is killing himself with exercise that his team members decide to intervene.
Promptly suggesting Ai Qing should be able to help, 97 called her and she agrees to help making Wu Bai smile. They meet Ai Qing at a coffee shop and Wu Bai go for an extra mile by ordering an off-season drink that Ai Qing particularly like. While 97 blab about their plan, the two keep being entranced in their own world.
When they’re done, Ai Qing goes back inside to borrow an umbrella because it started snowing. She learns from the coffee shop employee about Wu Bai’s plead to serve her favorite drink.
They walk to the bus stop and talk about how he convinced Han Shangyan to move on the grief of Team Solo breaking up. He assures that his cousin has been living a beautiful life after the disbandment. Appreciating the news he relayed, he further tells her how Han Shangyan never stopped pursuing his dream for the last 10 years.
The next day, Ai Qing summoned Slide to execute the plans prepared last night for Ai Jing and Shen Zhe. She also recognized a photo that fell from Wu Bai’s notebook.
Go Go Squid 2 Dt.Appledog’s Time Episodes 13 – 16 Musings
I love Ai Qing’s retrospective lines because it translates what we can’t understand to her thought process about what she feels for Wu Bai. Since day 1, Go Go Squid 2 Dt.Appledog’s Time has been consistently written with well-placed humor and romance contributing to its engrossing vibe.
Watching three Hu Yitian dramas at the moment has had me become familiar to his facial expressions. In this series, he has displayed myriad of expressions that would make any of his fans truly happy.
We are progressing quite positively. The closing minutes hint a possible chance for Wu Bai to finally claim Ai Qing’s heart. That is because she has learned all the things he has done for her.
Pacing and narrative wise, romance is taking care of turning this drama to an endearing watch. I’m not sure if the robot combat scenes will be highlighted more. If in case it will be, I don’t think it will be an issue if the same approach being used right not is implemented.
That leaves me to think about what conflicts might arise in the future episodes. Of course fan service is good, the more sweet kissing frames the better, but we still need to spin the story.
