“Hospital Playlist 2” Episode 2 Conveys Doctors’ Enduring Care To Varied Types of Patients

Hospital Playlist 2

Our favorite doctor squad goes through the same emotions but different scenarios in the second episode of Hospital Playlist 2.

Doctor-patient interactions made a resounding presence in the latest episode of Hospital Playlist 2. Song-hwa (Jeon Mi Do), Jung-won (Yoo Yeon Seok) and Seok-hyeong (Kim Dae Myung) provided meaningful lessons on parenting, giving the appropriate doctor’s advice as well as breaking career-experience stigma in the workplace.

Hospital Playlist 2 Ep 2: Life and Love Prescriptions

“The residents are neurosurgeons too. They studied this field for almost or over ten years. They have all the necessary medical knowledge, and they actually know more about patients. So they’ll be able to answer your questions.”

For aspiring and experienced career people, there’s quite a sweet pang in this scene. Sweet because Song-hwa unleashed quite a pep talk about an often overlooked aspect on the weight of experience career people should have to be acknowledged.

This is something that happens in any workplace. Thus, it was really nice to see how Seong-hwa defended her juniors by reiterating their worth should not be unfairly calculated.

Interestingly, in this episode, we also saw how Jun-wan (Jung Kyung Ho) gave strict mentoring to Hong-do (Bae Hyun Sung) who thought he was all ready for the assignment given to him. It turns out that he needs more effort and hard work because his professor wants him to learn and not just memorize.

Cold outside, but warm inside – we know that Jun-wan only wants Hong-do to be not confined in the usual route of studying, but to explore it fully since it will come in handy for him in the future.

“Seung-won even endured and recovered from his cancer surgery. He had to endure a lot of pain, so he must know more about it than we do.”

Finally spilling the secret about his relationship with Gyeo-wool, Jung-won had defeated a spree of conversation detours courtesy of his excessively diverted friends. Nevertheless, it was received pleasantly.

Additionally, his patient this week featured his Buddha personality that we love. Appeasing the mom of his patient for understanding her son’s stubborn behavior which caused his stitches to be unremoved, Jung-won reminded her of empathizing with her son’s pain.

Meanwhile, Ik-joon (Jo Jung Suk) suffered quite bad luck this week. His friends took advantage of his credit card. Then, he had to summon all the understanding he could have to his hardheaded patient who does not heed his pieces of advice.

“Bad things at times do happen to good people.”

Episode 2 of Hospital Playlist 2 relatively put Seok-hyeong in the spotlight as he hurdled work and personal predicaments this week. His patient who fought for her baby to live unfortunately was not able to deliver it safely. It made his usual recluse self bothered on making his patient feel better. He did successfully so and was acknowledged by his patient sincerely with flowers and a love letter.

Firmly drawing the line he does not intend to cross anymore with his ex-wife, (we feel happy for Min-ha) and it’s refreshing to see the other side of our favorite Mama’s boy.

Hospital Playlist 2 Episode 2 Musings

I love how this episode aligned the doctors’ work situations to highlight the focus on the doctor-patient relationship. Since Hospital Playlist 2 adorably goes to a maverick tone for a medical series, the delivery of the messages was subtle but lingering.

It looks like the episode runs would go in a balanced narrative for the main cast with a slightly elevated highlight on whoever will be featured for the succeeding weeks. Like how Seok-hyeong was the man of the week for the second episode.

Emphasizing how going through questioning our career value is but normal, this episode also resonates for giving genuine advice. When faced with a problem, if we did what we thought to be the best possible solution, then we’re good. Dwelling on what-ifs won’t solve it anyway.
