Coupang Play’s The Bait finally confirmed its release on January 27, along with the first poster and trailer release.
To be directed by Kim Hong Sun (Voice, The Guest, Money Heist Korea), Decoy is billed as a crime thriller drama that traces a rare criminal who is known to have committed a fraud of 5 trillion won. He died while on the run and was identified as a murder suspect eight years later.
Decoy will surely grab viewers’ attention immediately with its compelling tale alternating between the strange murder case in the present and the fraud case that shocked Korea in the past.
Jang Keun Suk, Lee Elijah, and Heo Sung Tae Team Up For “Decoy”
In the recent poster released, the tense confrontation between Gu Do Han (Jang Keun Suk) and Noh Sang Cheon (Heo Sung Tae) draws the audience’s attention. Gu Do Han is a righteous detective who tries to uncover the truth of the case. Meanwhile, Noh Sang Cheon is an unusual criminal who holds clues about the past fraud case and the current murder case.
Additionally, the simple and compelling message “You Must Catch to Live vs Die to Live” adds to the intrigue between the two. The implication of the contradictory statement “You must die to live” is also highlighted.
Moreover, the accompanying trailer shows Noh Sang Cheon, who allegedly died on the run after committing a 5 trillion won fraud, is suddenly identified as a suspect in a murder case.
Bait marks the return of global star Jang Geun Suk after five years since Switch Change The World. The passionate performances of Heo Sung Tae, who played the villain character in Squid Game, and Lee Elijah, who plays a part in the narrative between the present and the past, raise the anticipation of the fresh casting combination.
Coupang Play’s Decoy Part 1 will launch on January 27, with Part 2 following in the first half of 2023.
