Needless to say, my plate is quite full this season, so I had to strategize watching and writing our K-Dramas well. That led me to this new segment because as a rule, us kdrama fans, should not play favorites. But of course to keep my sanity, I can only commit to those Korean dramas worth watching.

Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol Recaps: 01 & 02 | 03 – 06
Kicking of my new segment, this is still technically a recap of two-six episodes of existing series I am keeping a tab on. The last quarter of 2020 Korean dramas are pretty condensed in the mid-week schedule. I’m not complaining, but the Wednesday-Thursday lineup is quite an engrossing bunch.
Among them is destressing drama pill, Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol, which threads on a simple but endearing riches to rag story of a pianist. Hitting rock bottom overnight, she finds herself getting day by day in a quaint town through the help of a mysterious handsome man, who easily opens his wallet for her.
The Story So Far…
Since its opening week, Gu Ra Ra (Go Ara) has settled at the refreshing Eunpo village. There, she has been building connections with her landlady Jin Suk-kyung (Ye Ji Won); her daughter Ha-young (Shin Eun Soo) and Ha-young’s friend Seung-gi (Yoon Jong Bin).
Her small accident upon reaching the town reunited her to Sunwoo Jun (Lee Jae Wook) and the doctor who treated her Cha Eun Suk (Kim Joo Hun). She has also come across Grandpa Man-bok (Lee Soon Jae) and piano prodigy Jae-min (Song Min Jae).
With her mounting debts, our cheerful heroine opens a piano academy, La La Piano Land, and has so far gained adult students. The full support of the neighborhood people who welcomed her with open arms make her unfortunate life bearable.
Where The Story Heads To?
Jun’s reason for running away has been revealed to be coming from the pressure of being a prestigious family’s son. His parents have ultra high expectations, thus, pushing him to escape an affluent life, settling to a life of his own that he wants to live.
Episode 6 ends with a cliff-hanger about the identity of Ra Ra’s benefactor. It also introduces the foreseen villain in the series.
Romance is an inescapable direction Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol heads to. Of course, we hope for Ra Ra’s piano academy to bloom well.
I’m also curious to Dr. Cha’s yet-to-be explained fascination towards Ra Ra.
Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol Episodes 1-6 Musings
Gu Ra Ra deserves the “Most Positive K-Drama Character” medal this year, no doubt about it! Go Ara’s rendition of a bright character who doesn’t have money and facing an enormously growing amount of debt, but still very much positive and happy – will make any viewer smile.
She is so convincing that we understand how the people in Eunpo village trust her wholeheartedly. More so, she inspires us to be generous in giving praises and encouragement.
Likewise, Lee Jae Wook as Jun is shaping up to be the perfect creditor-in-shining-part-timer-uniforms that viewers would definitely love. Ra Ra is so lucky to have a doting and dependable man like him.
Do Do Sol Sol Sol La La Sol is literally that friend you know who does not take life seriously, but still free-spirited and merry. Even the projected villain and conflict of the series, I’m sure would not incite a staggering annoyance.
Its supporting characters and how the people moving in the story are fit in to the calming appeal of Eunpo village as a small town. That has been the source of its engaging attraction. It does not make you process a lot of things in the plot, yet it makes you chirpy after watching.
Blooming Romance
Because our love pairing is pretty much preoccupied with their individual tasks, they subconsciously feel the growing emotions they shared, but are nonchalant about it. Definitely, an engrossing aspect of the series is how Jun willingly helped Ra Ra and assigned himself to become her pillar.
Jun has already opened up about his past, a story about a friend he cherished that’s why he understood Ra Ra’s pain in letting go of her car. His story speaks about how even with little that we have, we can still give a part of us to help someone with his burden.
Takeaway Quotes So Far
I particularly like these two memorable lines from our lead pairing in episode 5.
“Dreams don’t have to be grand. You can dream of whatever you want.”
“You should cry when you’re sad and start over.”
Consoling with plenty of scenes that can make you smile, let Do Do Sol Sol Sol La La Sol lead you to a healing rhythm when your heart is weary.
