Primed to bring youthful romance with Kim Hye Yoon, Byeon Woo Seok shares stories about his latest drama character.
Lovely Runner is based on web novel “Tomorrow’s Best”. It is a time-slip romance series about a passionate fan who despaired over the death of a famous artist.
Scheduled to be broadcast for the first time on April 8, this new tvN series asks the question, “What if you get a chance to save your favorite artist?” Lovely Runner is a time-slip redemption romance that threads on how Im Sol, a passionate fan who was devastated by her favorite artist’ death, goes back in time to 2008 to save him.
Expressing his affection for his latest work, the actor confessed his strong desire for the bright romantic story of Lovely Runner.
“I was particularly excited and touched by the romantic setting between Seon-jae and Sol that transcends time and space.”
Byeon Woo Seok is expected to play a dual role as Ryu Seon-jae, a 19-year-old promising swimmer and a 34-year-old vocalist of Eclipse, a famous Korean artist.
Regarding the main point of portraying the two Seon-jaes, Byeon relayed the different points of the characters.
“The past Seon-jae displayed unrefined purity and passion, and the current Seon-jae tried to maintain refined uprightness while maintaining his original goodness. I was attracted to his antagonistic side.”
Notably, the actor has been impressing the public with his strong presence as an icon of youth, starting with Record of Youth and the movies 20th Century Girl and Soul Mate.
When asked about his unique charm that shines especially in youth dramas, he said, “I think I am still at the beginning stage where I need to grow as an actor,” and added, “I think by chance, in the process of playing various characters, I was imprinted on the viewers by youth dramas.”
The romantic chemistry between him and Kim Hye Yoon is also receiving favorable reviews through the previously released video and poster. Commenting on his synergy with the actress, he is confident that Lovely Runner will delight viewers.
“My chemistry with Kim Hye Yoon was so good that I can’t express it in words. I had a firm trust in her for having a lot of romantic comedy experience, and thanks to that, I was able to act comfortably. I think it is reflected positively in the drama.”
