Chanyeol made a fascinating return to Manila with his highly anticipated CHANYEOL LIVETOUR 都市風景: Cityscape in MANILA on Sunday, October 19 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The concert, presented by PULP Live World Philippines, delivered a thrilling night of music and excitement for his dedicated fans.
Widely known as EXO’s main rapper, Chanyeol showcased his multifaceted talent as a rapper, singer, songwriter, and performer. Since debuting as a solo artist in 2020 with the single “Tomorrow,” Chanyeol has steadily captured audiences with his versatility. His close connection with his Filipino fans, strengthened through his ambassadorship with brands like Penshoppe and Ever Bilena, added extra meaning to his return.
Opening with powerful performances of “Back Again” and “Good Enough,” Chanyeol immediately set the stage ablaze. He wowed the crowd with his electric guitar skills, playing fan-favorites like his hit OST “Stay With Me” from Goblin and viral sensation “Yours”, encouraging fans to sing along.
Praising the audience for their singing, he introduced his talented live band, humorously recounting the challenge of convincing them to join him on tour due to their demand in South Korea. The band, including guitarist Park Tae Jin, bassist Go Dae Sung, drummer Seo Guk Jo, and keyboardist Cho Yong Jun, captivated the crowd with Cho’s playful rendition of the Philippine national anthem on keyboard delighting fans. Chanyeol joined in, riffing on iconic rock songs like “Sweet Child O’ Mine” and “Hotel California”, drawing huge applause.
Chanyeol’s emotional setlist featured slow jams such as “Hasta La Vista”, “Ease Up”, and “Nothin” (EXO-SC). He interacted warmly with fans, teaching them choreography for “Clover” and sharing personal moments, including playful stories and selfies from his time as a Penshoppe ambassador.
A highlight of the evening was his moving cover of “Raining in Manila” by Lola Amour, which deeply resonated with the audience, leading Chanyeol to perform it again during the encore. He also treated fans to a medley of EXO’s greatest hits, such as “Lotto”, “Monster”, “Growl”, and “Obsession”, creating an atmosphere filled with nostalgia and celebration.
As the night came to a close, Chanyeol performed his latest single “Black Out” along with “SSFW” and “I’m On Your Side Too”, before returning for an encore featuring “Just as Usual” and “Hasta La Vista”. Grateful for the unwavering love from his fans, Chanyeol expressed his desire to extend his stay and savor more special moments with them.
Chanyeol’s deep connection with his fans was undeniable throughout the night. His combination of humor, sincerity, and powerful performances left the crowd energized and eagerly anticipating their next reunion.
