When The Stars Gossip Opening Week Story
In a twist of fate, OB-GYN Gong Ryong (Lee Min Ho) embarks on an extraordinary space mission, all thanks to an unexpected encounter with conglomerate heiress Choi Go Eun (Han Ji Eun). What begins as an intentional accident transforms into a tale of half-baked romance, family desperation, and groundbreaking science.
When Gong Ryong was hit by an expensive car, she met and operated on Choi Go Eun who also lost her ability to conceive. Later, they became lovers leading to his involvement in the space mission. Go-eun’s father is desperate to continue his family line but his son and his wife have been struggling to get pregnant.
When all hope was lost after Go-eun’s brother’s death, her sister-in-law discovered breakthrough research on how sperm goes to its top shape in zero gravity. Go-eun’s father persuades Gong Ryong to fertilize the remaining sperm of his son with his daughter-in-law’s egg.
Against the rule of the International Space organization, he brings the egg and sperm but belatedly realizes that Chairman Choi already conspired with Kang Kang-su (Oh Jung Se), Go-eun’s ex-boyfriend who harbors expected animosity toward him. Kang-su took his patient’s egg and sealed it against his reach.
Albeit training for a year, Gong Ryong struggles to learn the ropes moving in zero gravity. Marked as the heiress’ boyfriend who paid 70 billion won for the space tour, his connection with Eve (Gong Hyo Jin) is civil.
Later, they bond when he operates on her wounded big toe. Their connection goes deeper after saving a mouse involved in the space mission research that almost lost its life.
When The Stars Gossip Opening Week Highlights + Musings
Interestingly fusing cosmic and medical expertise with relatable human interactions, When The Stars Gossip would bank on character portrayals and cast synergy to navigate its story.
Both comfortingly familiar and refreshingly new, this balance of classic charm and contemporary appeal promises to keep viewers invested as the story progresses. So far, the intricate web of complex love connections offers a refreshing and daring departure from the typically straightforward romance arcs found in traditional Korean office dramas. Viewers are up to expected romantic movements as seen in Gong Ryong’s blossoming admiration for Eve and Sang-su’s devotion to Go-eun.
We can foresee the setting primarily at the space station and command center creating a unique backdrop. While the series seems dialogue-heavy, its clever humor and wealth of intriguing details will keep audiences engaged and entertained.
Much of the worry we have so far is keeping the space world’s engaging parade of information with anticipated plot movements that would shape the connection of the main leads into a more defined romantic shape. Fascinatingly, the subtle and obvious humor sprinkled in the first two episodes foresees no room for emotionally heavy moments that would add to our daily problems.
Boasting a talented cast and creative team, it’s hard not to expect much from this new tvN series. Hopefully, the screen time and shining moments for all characters won’t face a hitch.
