“Study Group” Assembles The Universe’s Most Unlikely Study Squad for High-Stakes Growth and Action

A hilarious and action-packed ride with TVING’s original series, Study Group is coming up soon!

Study Group has unveiled its complete team of misfits, setting the stage for an explosive, action-packed high school story.

Directed by Lee Jang-hoon and Yoo Beom-sang and written by Eom Seon-ho and Oh Bo-hyun, Study Group promises a thrilling blend of comedy, action, and heartfelt growth. On January 13th, the production team released a dynamic group poster and main trailer, building excitement for this unique coming-of-age drama.

Based on the popular webtoon of the same name, Study Group follows Yoon Ga-min (Hwang Min Hyun), a high schooler who dreams of excelling academically but is only naturally gifted at one thing—fighting. Set in Yooseong Technical High School, a place notorious for its daily ranking battles and brutal environment, Yoon Ga-min assembles a “study group” to face not only the cutthroat competition of college entrance exams but also the chaotic challenges of survival in the most idiotic school in the universe.

A Fierce Team with Big Dreams

The newly released group poster offers a glimpse into the colorful personalities of the Study Group. At the center is Yoon Ga-min, clutching a notebook with a determined grin, embodying his hope of transforming his academic struggles. Standing by his side is Lee Han-kyung (Han Ji Eun), who provides unwavering support with her bright smile and formidable presence.

The rest of the group adds layers of intrigue: Kim Se-hyun (Lee Jong Hyun), Yoon Ga-min’s top recruit, may sport a face full of battle scars, but his sharp eyes reveal a resilient spirit. Lee Ji-woo (Shin Soo Hyun) commands attention with her explosive charisma, while Choi Hee-won (Yoon Sang Jung) lights up the team with her cheerful energy. Lastly, there’s Lee Joon (Gong Do-yu), who joins after being captivated by Yoon Ga-min’s fearless fighting abilities.

The tagline on the poster, “We fight today too. Only for studying,” paired with the Yooseong High School flag, signals that this unconventional team’s battle for academic success will be anything but ordinary.

A Journey Fueled by Action and Heart

The main trailer showcases Yoon Ga-min’s journey as he tries to find his place in Yooseong High School’s chaotic and competitive landscape. Despite his desire to excel academically, Yoon Ga-min quickly realizes he lacks a natural talent for studying. His solution? Forming a study group to create a space for learning in a school that seems to prioritize fighting over education.

However, it’s no easy task. Yoon Ga-min’s innocent appearance contrasts sharply with his unexpected combat prowess, making him a target of both admiration and animosity among his peers. His first major challenge comes when Lee Han-kyung declares, “Our school is not normal right now,” and rallies against the corrupt school system. One by one, the study group grows as Kim Se-hyun, Lee Ji-woo, Choi Hee-won, and Lee Joon bring their own motivations and stories into the mix.

As the group bonds, Yoon Ga-min’s fiery resolve to protect his friends and their shared mission leads to action sequences that are as intense as they are satisfying. His battles aren’t just physical—they’re symbolic of his desire to carve out a better future for himself and his team in a school ruled by chaos.

Adding to the tension is Pi Han-ul (played by Cha Woo-min), the reigning king of Yooseong High’s ranking fights, whose cryptic line, “It’s going to be fun,” hints at a looming showdown. The stakes rise as Yoon Ga-min’s study group becomes a symbol of rebellion and change, and the question remains: Can they disrupt the status quo and succeed in their mission?

A Comedy-Action School Drama Like No Other

Study Group promises to deliver a fresh take on the high school genre by blending over-the-top action, heartfelt camaraderie, and sharp comedy. With Yoon Ga-min’s unconventional approach to education at the center, viewers can expect plenty of thrilling fight scenes paired with moments of genuine growth and inspiration.

As the release date approaches, anticipation is high for how this ragtag team of dreamers and fighters will transform not just themselves, but also the notorious Yooseong Technical High School.

Study Group will be exclusively available on TVING starting January 23rd, inviting audiences to join this extraordinary group as they tackle exams, rivalries, and self-discovery in the most entertaining way possible.
