First Love Again Quick Plot Recap
First Love Again tells the story of two souls that supposedly should not meet.
Patrick Shih transforms into a cold and straight-A student, Ye You Ning. One day, the 31-year-old You Ning found out that his grandfather has dementia.
An unexplained scientific occurrence happened, and an old phone he touched helped him time travel back in 2006.
Now that he is back to his younger years, he met his friends and his first love Xia Wenxi. He then tries to avoid making the same mistakes to change the fate of his grandfather.
You Ning explained to Wenxi that time-traveling does happen. The happy-go-lucky Wenxi believes him because of her favorite boy-band group’s song, ‘Time Machine.’
Unexpectedly, You Ning travels back again in the future and communicates with the 18-year-old Wenxi through the old phone.

Personally, what makes this series worth watching is its well-thought story. It features a magical yet miserable romance that pierces deeply in my heart and thoughts.
The series also made an eye-catching illustration that highlights important scenes yet does not spoil the whole story. It does have cliche scenes, but with Patrick Shih and Amy Chen’s chemistry, they offer unique emotions that made the series fresh.
I often predict how most of the series flow. However, the series adds many plot twists that always surprise me.
Moreover, First Love Again also shows how magical and important time is. At first, I’m not impressed with the character’s portrayal and soundtracks that they used.
But as time went on, I feel connected with each character and made me see that they are perfectly fitted with their rolees. On the other hand, I noticed that it intended to have a slow burn of emotions.
After hooking the viewers, the series intensified these emotions with the soundtrack that I slowly fell in love with.
There are also little details of technical elements that made the story more effective. They used vibrant colors that represent youth, while neutral colors stimulate the deeper emotions of reality.
To conclude, First Love Again is a series worth giving a shot. Though many dislike how it progresses, it is one of the most underrated dramas that I watched.
