They patrol every night and even invited Hwi Oh who was part of the police force in the past. 3. Hwi Oh Defending ‘Samantha’
Dressed up differently from the common, Samantha, who is portrayed by actor Ahn Woo Yeon, is defended by Hwi Oh from the suspicions of being the flasher in the neighborhood. Emphasizing that Samantha did not violate anyone’s rights, Hwi Oh was able to clear the judgment from the Hongjik Women’s Association.

Hwi Oh becomes friendly with Samantha after their encounter and asks for help to dress up as a female. Samantha agrees to help Hwi Oh dress up, but Hwi Oh fails to catch Yang, the drug suspect, who was the cause of his suspension as a detective in the police force.

Relying on the psychiatric interventions to their daily struggles, Hwi Oh and Min Kyung exhibit progress from their initial situations throughout the episodes. They are able to report back to their psychiatrist about the updates on their life and their gradual healing from their past pains.

Labeled as a romcom, Mad For Each Other introduces its story with a notable perspective from the characters’ psychological situations. The series intends to depict a love story between two people who met at unusual circumstances yet manages to grow on each other’s hearts. Not only does it touch on the topic of psychology, but also on the social norms existing in Korea.
It’s exciting to see how the story will lead the characters to their healing from their past pains. Likewise, the blossoming romance between Hwi Oh and Min Kyung, who started at unfriendly terms, is also worth anticipating.
Jung Woo never fails to amaze us with his humorous acting as Noh Hwi Oh in Mad For Each Other. He has already proved himself as a talented actor from Reply 1994, and now he comes back again as that character who acts as the crazy guy in the neighborhood. The interactions of the characters from this series totally emits the vibe of a neighborhood with residents who have a unique back story.
Director Lee Tae Gon (Hello, My Twenties) along with writer Ah Kyung has developed a story whose characters are able to grow from their daily struggles and pains. Each character from the neighborhood has a unique story to tell, and their stories teach its viewers that humans have their own individual experiences different from the rest. Just like how Hwi Oh defended Samantha from the Hongjik Women’s Association, he reiterated that being different such as dressing up as a woman is not wrong.
