Reflections on Brewing Love
In a candid Q&A, Kim Sejeong expressed her gratitude for the project.
“It was an incredible experience, and I learned so much,” she said. “Working with amazing seniors and colleagues felt like a gift. Just as Yong-ju found her own colors, I, too, feel comforted and inspired to embark on another journey to find my own.”
When asked about her approach to Yong-ju’s character, Kim revealed her philosophy of acting with sincerity.
“I didn’t want to simply portray a character but rather react authentically to the situations and emotions in the story. Whether it’s love, dreams, or struggles, I believe people experience these emotions in similar ways. That honesty helped me show Yong-ju’s various facets.”
Kim Sejeong’s Bond with Her Character
Kim sees much of herself in Yong-ju, describing her as one of the most relatable roles she has ever played.
“Yong-ju’s upright nature, sly humor, and endearing charm make her lovable across all generations. What resonates most with me is her passion—for her work, the people around her, and the things she loves. Like Yong-ju, I’m also on a journey to discover my true path.”
A Joyful Atmosphere on Set
Recalling her time on set, Kim spoke fondly of her fellow cast members and the harmonious environment in Brewing Love.
“Each setting had its unique charm. With the TF team, we laughed and shared meaningful conversations like old friends. Shooting with the villagers felt like playing on an ‘acting playground,’ thanks to the wisdom of my senior actors. Even scenes with company colleagues or the grandmother were filled with warmth and camaraderie.”
Memorable Moments and Powerful Scenes
Kim highlighted a particularly poignant scene where Yong-ju cries in Min-joo’s arms after resigning.
“It’s a moment that’s deeply personal for anyone who’s ever poured everything into their work. Watching Yong-ju let go of something she cherished to pursue what truly matters felt incredibly emancipating.”
Perfecting Romantic Comedy
Kim credits her success in romantic comedies to genuinely loving her on-screen counterparts.
“If I can convey through my eyes how grateful, happy, and precious the other character is to me, that speaks louder than any dialogue. Love, in real life and on screen, is boundless and unrestrained, and I try to embrace that boldness in my performances.”
Looking Back on Brewing Love and Ahead to 2025
For Kim, Brewing Love was more than just a romantic comedy; it was a “playground for growth” that comforted her when she couldn’t comfort herself.
“Yong-ju’s journey was a reminder to believe in myself, and spending 2024 as Yong-ju brought me immense happiness,” she said.
As for the future, Kim shared her aspirations for new roles and projects in 2025.
