Crash Course In Romance Episodes 3 to 6 Highlights

Starting on the wrong foot, side dish owner Haeng-seon and elite Math instructor Chi-yeol built an accidental connection thanks to the latter’s picky tummy. Intending to replace the phone he broke, Chi-yeol gets caught in a dilemma since his first encounter with Haeng-seon did not sit well.

Unknown to Haeng-seon, her brother’s phone thief is the very person her daughter wants to sign up for Math tutorial lessons. Belatedly realizing their new customer is the phone thief, she chides him, but a round bullet breaks the window of Haeng-seon’s store stopping the verbal mayhem.

“I could’ve been the target. Yes, it’s me. I happen to be a celeberity who has a lot of rivals. I’m Choi Chi-yeol, the star teacher.”

Going to the police station to give their statements, Chi-yeol privately talks to the officer to reveal that he could be the target. But as he is popular in a specific crowd, the police officer was clueless.

Meanwhile, the cost of repairing the glass window saddened Haeng-seon. But she remains focused on her goal to provide Hae-yi with the support she needs in her studies. Mastering the art of queueing for her daughter’s seat at Chi-yeol’s class, she’s not aware that the regular customer she just met is Hae-yi’s Math instructor.

Finally, the two realize their common denominator when Hae-yi arrived and sees her teacher at her mom’s store. In separate monologues, they mumble about the odds of being acquainted through Hae-yi.

Knowing she needs to make the adjustment, Haeng-seon prepared a food feast for Chi-yeol and they eventually make amends.

When the academy moved up the All Care elite training for the top students of the academy, Hae-yi through her innate smarts successfully passed the selection.

However, through Su-a’s mom’s manipulation and Sun-jae’s mom’s cooperation, the academy settled for a technicality that cut Hae-yi off the program.

“Let’s resume the class. I will teach your daughter.”

Upset about the turn of events, Haeng-seon tries to protest but it was futile. Chi-yeol who initially wanted to leave the All Care Program stayed for the sake of other students who got in despite the apparent foul play that he usually detests.

Staging war with what she has, Haeng-seom refused to sell food to Pride Academy. It, of course, caused problems for Chi-yeol’s well-being whose body has taken quite a liking to her food.

Meanwhile, Young-min, the boy who stole Hae-yi’s spot, is the proverbial problem child who was forced to follow his overachieving mom’s lead. Complaining about the program he got into, he was unaware of a shady man who inadvertently heard his conversation with his friend.

But he got followed by the shady man who pushed him to death.

At that same moment, Chi-yeol who has been bothered by Haeng-seon’s situation paid her a visit and offers private lessons to Hae-yi.

“Maybe life is fair after all. Misfortune is often followed by a stroke of luck.

The news of Young-min’s death didn’t shake All Care program’s moms as they insist to proceed with the lessons.

Hae-yi also proceeds with her private lessons with Chi-yeol. She also teaches Gun-ho, a former athlete who succumbed to an injury that ended his career as ice hockey player. This infuriates Sun-jae who sees Hae-yi in a romantic light while being friends.

When Jae-wook was mistaken for a stalker, Chi-yeol who was at the right moment after his tutorial with Hae-yi drove Haeng-seon to the police station.

Bailing her brother out, she and Hae-yi talk to Jae-wook about changing a part of his routine since he can’t go to the store anymore. Wanting to get some tofu for her brother, Haeng-seon went out to buy some but received a call from Hae-yi that her uncle already fell asleep.

Relieving the stress she got that day, Haeng-seon ended up drinking alcohol at the nearby convenience store. Chi-yeol who sees drunk men in the same store disregards the worry he felt when he saw the situation. But he ends up being her spontaneous drinking buddy.

In the morning, he wakes up to an awkward girly pyjama since Haeng-seon had to wash his pants. Rushing to forget the awkwardness of staying the night with Nam family, he went out. But Haeng-seon follows to give his belt.

In front of Haeng-seon’s store, they spot Yeong-ju and Dong-hwi. Both are baffled at the sight of Chi-yeol’s disheveled appearance and Haeng-seon holding his belt.

“There are no correct answers in life only best answers.”

Having regular detractors, Chi-yeol got attacked by one of his avid haters by bringing out his old pain related to Su-hyun, a student he tutored before. The student’s family crumbled when she committed suicide and her mother died, thereafter, leaving her young son who went missing.

At that time, Su-hyun confessed how the exam she took appeared to have been the exact practice tests her mother was able to secure. Chi-yeol who had an acquaintance made the connection between Chi-yeol’s academy owner and the people in charge of the test conspire without his knowledge.

Getting the confession from Su-hyun made upright Chi-yeol cut ties with the famed-master instructor.

Coincidentally, Nam family and Chi-yeol meet at a camping site over the weekend. Upon her arrival in Seoul, Hae-yi patches up with Sun-jae who previously got upset when Hae-yi chose to help Geon-hu first instead of talking to him.

Sun-jae loops her in with Su-a’s knowledge of the materials she’s using and covers her by telling Su-a that he gave the materials Chi-yeol uses. Letting off stress, they also went for a noraebang session and bumps into Sun-jae’s brother, who was running from a detective chasing after him.

Explaining his brother has shut himself in his own world, Sun-jae asks his close friend to keep it a secret. In return, Hae-yi also reveals the private lessons she’s getting from Chi-yeol.

Su-a tells her mom about Sun-jae giving his materials to Hae-yi. Spotting Chi-yeol’s car, they follow him and see him about to go to Nam family’s place.

Crash Course In Romance Episodes 3 to 6 Musings

Amidst the intrigue being raised in the series, the hooking charm of Crash Course In Romance so far is staying true to what it wants to offer. Fun and therapeutic moments.

More than expressing he’s a warm person openly, we seriously hope Chi-yeol’s hilarious inability to remember names would progress somehow before the series ends. Nonetheless, it adds charm to his character.

Presenting the quintessential “hardworking K-Drama female lead who loves her family” – Jeon Do Yeon’s character might not be too appealing for the younger generation but she has well-represented the unvoiced inner turmoil of family breadwinners who can’t lead a life she wants.

While the trajectory of romance is peeking, we love how the direction of the imaginary romance is aligned with realistic growth.

In fact, it is forgivable if no romance will emerge since the adorable bickering between Haeng-seon and Chi-yeol suffices.

Truth be told, the series follows the reliable structure of a K-Drama rom-com while incorporating faint criticisms of the educational system’s pressure for CSAT-preparing students.

The series gives emphasis how mothers’ extremely driven attitude to push their children “to study for their future” risk losing a “future with their children”.

Will Chi-yeol’s private tutorial be discovered? Is the shady man using round bullets related to him as well?

Watch Haeng-seon heals Chi-yeol’s pain with her yummy side dishes and expected interactions in Crash Course In Romance every weekend on tvN!
