Decoy Part 1 Episodes 5 and 6 Highlights
No Sang-cheon’s Escape Route
Revealing the villains’ secret mistrust towards each other, Jung So-ram and Kim Seong-dae are not aware that No Sang-cheon listens to their phone call conversation furtively.
He has also converted his money into gold bars and awaits the prepared escape route for him.
At present time, the murders presumed to be done by Jung Jae-hwang appears to be another side snare to confuse the investigation.
When Do-han and Na-yeon visit Jae-hwang’s mother, they were led to a house and found him dead and likely suicide.
At that same moment, Deputy Chief Kang walks aimlessly on a road. He was let go after being captured by the police.
Another Cryptic Text Message After The Suspect Died
Interestingly, the victims receive another text message just when all the people involve that it will stop already after jae-hwang’s death.
In a flashback, it was revealed how Jae-hwang stabbed No Sang-cheon’s bodyguard who was beating Byung-jun and Da-jung to death.
It caused Jae-hwang’s imprisonment. Da-jung later became big time with her businesses that ironically take fraud framework.
At a business presentation of her new cryptocurrency business, she was attacked by Byung-jun.
She survives it and was able to tell Na-yeon that Kim Seong-dae might be involved in Jae-hwang’s death.
Kang Jung-hoon’s Death
Do-han’s relentless poking of the case led to his initial suspension being set again. Deputy Chief Kang finally confessed that some stones were left unturned in their investigation a few years ago.
Ordered by Prosecutor Park to resign at a media briefing about the serial murders, Chief Kang did otherwise and decides to commit fully to an unfinished investigation that keeps haunting him.
He also reinstates Do-han as the leader of the investigation. Tracing what he did wrong, he visits his old friend who retired after Sang-cheon fled the country.
Evading the inquisition that he might have been bought by Sang-cheon made, Chief Kang is all the more convinced of the scary depth and range of Sang-cheon’s allies.
Proceeding with the investigation, Do-han visits Da-jung to ask questions. Unfortunately, her condition worsened, and he was not able to get useful information.
In the fading scene of episode 8, an old-looking No Sang-cheon is seen arriving in Korea with a Chinese national passport.
Decoy Part 1 Episodes 5 and 6 Musings
No Sang-cheon is indeed alive as seen in the 8th episode of Decoy. Interestingly, the sole dominating conflict of the series does not lean on a mind-blowing scenario.
Yet, as viewers might have felt a distinct charm, the story gravitates by putting unique emphasis on the story of the villain. To the point that he’s like an underdog hero.
In a story where trust gets always breached and being friendly with enemies is but normal, Decoy puts forward a string of convincing bait that keeps the audience wanting more.
Considering its unique storytelling of laying out the motivations of the characters from the past timelines and heightening the excitement owing to the pressing problems at present time; Decoy capitalized strongly on the efficient character portrayals.
The last four episodes would answer the question of who is really backing up No Sang-cheon. Additionally, why the need for cryptic murders?
Because the plot twists keep on throwing unexpected revelations, it’s hard to formulate feasible theories. Losing Deputy Chief Kang, we don’t know where Gu Do-han and the victims can get the power to back them up.
