The Law Cafe Episode 13 Highlights

“It’s because I want to be happy with you for a very long time. I want to discuss everything outrightly.”

Jung-ho wakes up feeling baffled by Yu-ri’s written agreement on their nightlife. Explaining herself, Yu-ri tells how she wants to maintain a good relationship for a long time.

Witnessing a couple’s passionate love though it is kept a secret, the Eunha building tenants voice their request to Jung-ho and Yu-ri to avoid showing public display of affection.

At night, Yi-seul comes in crying at the law cafe as she shares how she hears her mom vomiting and crying. Searching for her daughter, Song-hwa spanks Yi-seul for going out, but Eun-gang stops her.

Taking up Yu-ri’s offer the other night, Song-hwa comes to talk to her about her problem. She speaks up about being sexually harassed while working for Assemblyman Choi. She also talks about her recent experience of being violated and hit in a vacation house. No longer able to hold herself out, Song-hwa feels nauseous and vomits at the smell of the assemblyman’s perfume.

“I’m doing this because nobody else would want to.”

Searching up the witnesses at the vacation house Song-hwa was talking about, Yu-ri discovers that these people hold huge power in the media and prosecution.

Moreover, she hears that President Lee was also part of it.

Presenting the risks of being called a gold digger, Yu-ri reassures Song-hwa that she is ready to stay by her side throughout the process.

Jung-ho also sees the people involved in the case, and he warns Yu-ri of going up against powerful people, and they fall into an argument.

Meeting the assemblyman for her resignation, Song-hwa brings with her the pen with a recorder and tracking features.

Initially verbalizing inappropriate remarks, Assemblyman Choi notices he is being recorded, so he switches to denying the incident at the vacation house.

After that meeting, Song-hwa decides to sue him.

“It’s one thing to defend the powerful and wealthy, but defending bad guys will really hurt your pride.”

Golfing with Mr. Hwang, Yu-ri tries to collect information on how the assemblyman became friends with the other three people at the vacation house.

Jung-ho also digs into the connection of the four men with each other and generally sees the mutual benefits each could give.

Though Assemblyman Choi is paranoid about the recording, President Lee calms him saying he has handled it already. Later that night, Yu-ri’s bag gets snatched and the pen cannot be retrieved. Seeing Yu-ri hurt, Jung-ho stresses how the case could hurt her and Song-hwa, and this causes them to fight.

Quarreling in front of everyone, the tenants reverse their decision, allowing their display of affection and rejecting their bothersome quarrel. Resolving their fight, Jung-ho decides to help out and visits his father to receive advice on their standing on the case.

“They’re cheating left and right, so we shouldn’t play fair and square.”

Fetching her past client with clever hands in breaking into vaults, Yu-ri welcomes him after being recently released from prison. Together with the rest of the team, they discuss their plan of stealing back Yu-ri’s pen from Lee Pyun-woong’s place.

Joining the conversation, Jung-ho shares the information he gathered about the four men. They became friends to stop the bill for punishing serious accidents but still failed to stop it. Their execution date is the charity event where Assemblyman Choi will give a speech.

The day comes, and Jung-ho and Yu-ri book a nearby suite. With the ladies distracting the guards, the snatched master key opens up President Lee’s suite.

Retrieving the copy of the recording, Eun-gang working as a part-time staff plays it after the assemblyman’s speech. Failing to stop it from playing, the assemblyman walks out, and the teams rejoice for their success.

The Law Cafe Episode 13 Musings

Certainly, in a relationship, it is healthy to talk about one’s boundaries and verbalize each other’s needs, but not necessarily make a written agreement on it like Yu-ri. Being clear with each other is enough since for a relationship to work, both parties must be aware of what’s acceptable for each other.

In the case of Jung-ho and Yu-ri, whose relationship is just beginning, they have a lot of disagreements. Even in the earlier episodes of the series, Jung-ho has been disagreeing with Yu-ri’s way of working. However, what matters is that they resolve their differences at the end of the day.

Song-hwa’s case as the person violated is not that easy to be talked about in public. It gives the risk of exposing oneself to the public and reliving the traumatic experience while testifying.

The ending of the episode was somehow more cathartic than being hopeless as they were able to expose Assemblyman Choi. However, in reality, the process is much more complicated than what was shown.

Jung-ho and Yu-ri appear to be ready to take their dating relationship to the next level. As the recent case also involves President Lee Pyun-woong, they are getting closer to gathering a concrete way to take him down.
