INTERVIEW: Kim Dong Wook and Chun Won Hee Share Their Thoughts as “Delightfully Deceitful” Comes To An End

The lead stars of Delightfully Deceitful look back on fond moments of their characters in the series!

Delightfully Deceitful is a revenge drama where two people with completely different personalities, one commits fraud and cannot empathize while the other one is a lawyer who is overly empathetic. They team up together to fight evil people.

Chun Woo Hee returned to the small screen after four years. She made an intense transformation that would not be remembered from her appearance in her previous drama, Be Melodramatic. Chun Woo Hee plays the character Lee Ro-um. A con artist with no sympathy at all.

Kim Dong Wook played the role of Han Moo-young, a lawyer who suffers from “hyper-empathy syndrome” causing him to be overly sympathetic and immersed in the feelings of others.

Chun Woo Hee shares that she didn’t realize that it has been four years since her last drama and she is so excited to see the reaction of the viewers when they see her different side by doing this show.

She chose Delightfully Deceitful because she was attracted to the title itself. She was curious about what kind of story that has a contradictory title will show. When asked if she looked at the reactions and comments, she said she did and it is not bad. Regardless of the ratings, the show received a favorable response, and that put her mind at ease.

Kim Dong Wook, who is an ‘ISFP’, said he has some similarities with his character Han Moo-young like he is willing to help his close acquaintances if he can. He is also very grateful that he was able to portray Moo-young’s character well.

He said all the young actors were the mood makers on the set and everyone was great. He was so comfortable and happy to act with them. And because of the good atmosphere on the set, they were able to have good teamwork for the show.

Chun Woo Hee’s Charming Con Artist Role

“I try to think through the script. There are times when practicing itself is inconvenient, and there are times when you get stuck in a frame. Other than that, I don’t want to be locked in because I have to tell a story with this character. I keep looking at the script a lot and imagining it.”

Due to her character as a con artist, she had to transform into various people. She hoped that she was able to portray each role differently. When an image comes to her mind, she studies it and makes sure to deliver the character well. She said that this time, she put in a lot of effort to share her opinions while working on this drama.

Kim Dong Wook is also a famous actor who is shy just like her but it was not difficult to act with him.  She thought that she should just let go and show her true self. She may seem quiet but she really is a funny person when you get to know her.

When asked how was his chemistry with Chun Woo Hee, he said, “He is an actress worthy of praise as one of the best actresses in Korea. There is nothing lacking in her acting or personality. It was a time to learn a lot from each other, and it was really fun to act together.”

Reliable Actor Kim Dong Wook

Modestly, Kim Dong Wook shares his thoughts on being in the industry for 20 years.

“Of course, I probably wouldn’t have walked the solid road, but I think I’ve walked well, whether it’s a thorny road or a trail. I think it has its own meaning because that road has been walked now. I am a person who wants to step into unknown territory. I seem to have a certain spirit of exploration. I have a valuable sense of pride and joy in pioneering a place that is not a road.”

Echoing her co-star’s view, Chun Woo Hee relays that her future plan is to continue acting. Maybe there will be a time that she will want to take a break but she thinks she will continue acting even after 20 years, 40 years, or 60 years more.

As Kim Dong Wook says goodbye to his character, he said that through this drama, he and Moo-young have matured a little more. He is grateful that he was able to portray his character.
