Falling Into Your Smile Episodes 1-16 Key Moments

“Which floor?”

Two words, one question – was how Tong-yao (Cheng Xiao) and Lu Sicheng (Xu Kai) had their first lone encounter. After being recruited to a powerhouse e-sports team, ZGDX, she was invited by the team manager Rui (Cui Shao Yang) to watch an away game with CK, coincidentally her ex-boyfriend Jian Yang’s (Zhai Xiao Wen) team.

Distracted at the sight of his ex-girlfriend whom he still cares about, his game was affected, but it did not deter them from winning the game. Incidentally, ZGDX is also considered at a disadvantage since their midsolo Yu Ming (Yalkun Merxat) suffers an injury and can’t push the team’s movement to be fluid.

Taking the opportunity to say goodbye to the game that has been part of his life, Ming officially announced his retirement.

“When I was at the same age as you, at that time, to most people, playing e-sports was not a proper job, and it had no future. Of course, my family thought the same. They asked me, what’s e-sports? Is there a future for e-sports? I really didn’t know how to answer it at that time. But I didn’t want to give in when I saw the looks on their faces. My heart told me that this was my dream.”

Contemplating her career options, despite her mom’s objection, the very same encouraging words Ming said, pushed Tong-yao to accept a career she loves. Another person who was not happy about her career choice is Yang, her ex-boyfriend who taught her how to play the game. Clarifying her decision to become a professional e-sports player to be of her own volition.

Falling Into Your Smile

“I came to ZGDX to enroll and knocked on the door. It was Cheng ge who opened the door. Then he took my takeout, said thanks and then shut the door.”

At ZGDX’s camp, Pang (Sun Kai) and Mao (Kevin Xiao) feed the social media uproar about their new teammate. But K (Gao Han), who is closed to Ming, can’t deny his sour mood. Unknown to them, Yao is on her way to the base. When she rang the bell, Sicheng mistook her for Pang’s delivery.

The team realizes their captain’s mistake and ushers Yao in with her pet cat Biscuit. Sicheng demands her to delete her SNS post, but she refuses to follow

Falling Into Your Smile

Introducing each other, Si-cheng emphasized rending her pet well because his fish sons swimming in the aquarium are precious. Before annoying their stoic captain, even more, Pang led Yao to her room and an avalanche of pink attacked their eyes. Appreciating Pang’s design effort, but not the outcome, she thanks him sincerely.

After settling in her new room, she video-calls her parents who are worried about her staying in a dorm as the only girl. But she assures them that she’s okay. The morning after her first day, she woke up finding the housekeeper who briefed her that the boys do not wake up early. Taking the liberty to tour her own self at the base, she welcomed the boys one by one who woke up in their pajamas forgetting that their team has acquired a female member.

With Ming returning to be the team’s designated coach, ZGDX boys are happy. Rui takes Yao to discuss some things about her contract particularly her duty to do a live stream. Sicheng reminds Rui to arrange for someone to accompany Yao for grocery shopping, the manager bounces the assignment to him.

“Those two days, I thought I was besieged by zombie shorties. I didn’t know it was all the same person.”

At the mall, Cheng points out her being petite after confirming they stayed in the same hotel at their last game. Stubbornly defending herself that her hands were full that day so she can’t reach the elevator buttons, they cutely bicker with Yao being plucky on declaring she’s starting to hate him. But his point is once again proven when he threw the pink slippers in favor of the blue one she asked him to help her choose.

Si-cheng ends up helping her reach for the slippers which led to another realization of how he took the gallon of water she hid at the grocery store that same day. On their way back, they had to deal with an impromptu fan meet as Sicheng’s fans approached them.

Afraid to get the ire of her captain’s fans, Yao tries to hide but was forced to participate as the photographer in his quick car parking fan meet. Wondering if she will get to Sicheng’s status as a top-tier player, Yao gets a pep talk to do well and be the strongest to stay in the career she chose.

“Cheng ge, I’m one round away from claiming the Lord of Kyoto. So please don’t make it hard for me.”

Ming and Sicheng talk about the practice plan to instill team-playing for Yao. Strict on strengthening her basics, she followed the rigorous training set by Ming. Barely sleeping, she was awakened by Pang to go down for a game with K. Luck is not on her side as Jian Yang became her teammate opposing Sicheng and K.

Worried about her game-level advancement, Pang coached her to plead Sicheng so he would go easy on her. However, her captain favors causing trouble to her after making her believed he’s okay with her proposal. Trying more pleading words to assuage him, even bargaining his sons in the aquarium, Sicheng refuses to budge.

Her annoyed ex-boyfriend is obviously not happy with her sweet talks being disregarded and meddles to take charge, but in one swing Sicheng obliterates his character in the game.

The next day in the e-sports online grapevine the news of the love triangle among Yao, Yang and Sicheng go viral. Even her parents read the news and are worried sick about her.

Falling Into Your Smile

“The mysterious relationship among the three of us is good enough for a TV series. Its content, a flattering heroine, a desperate secondary lead actor and a cruel lead actor.”

Sicheng arrives early than promise and talks about their “love triangle” reaching online heights. At the same time, at CK’s base, Yang’s teammates were also curious about the real score between their captain and Yao.

In alternating narration, Yao and Yang chronicle their bittersweet young love story. From teaching Yao to play the game and how they fade from their long-distance relationship when the pressure for both of them studying and training took over their relationship.

Hearing Yao’s story, he assures her not to worry about the fans’ reactions and to focus on their upcoming games. When she checks her phone to read the comments, she whines at the lie that they were walking while holding hands. Sicheng remedies her complaint right away by taking her hand.

The quick magic gets instantly broken when Yao receives a message from Yang coaxing her that he never meant to break up. Furtively snooping on what she’s reading, Yao ignores yang’s message and insists that they should clarify the situation not knowing that Sicheng already worked on it.

Impressed, Yao blurts how she envies his future wife because she will be protected well.

“Don’t listen to his nonsense. You can receive compliments from me.”

Going for her first practice game, Team ZGDX faces FNC and was able to win the game. However, K and Cheng still think that Yao is being impulsive, but Rui praises her bravery.

After the game, the captain from FNC, Kun (Didi), go for a live streaming session and shares admiration with Yao, making her smile and Cheng frown.

Cutting her high spirit, Cheng pulled her back to earth, but she insists how she’s happy to receive praises since she stopped getting those after graduation in grade school. Asserting his order, he tells her that she will get compliments from him.

But when she asks him to proceed and praise her, he goes back to his word. Persistent Yao demands it so he drew a red flower on her hand with a permanent marker.

Riding on her recent supply of flattery, Yao goes to Pang who was detailing their practice game. But when she sees a comment about the “love triangle” she invites herself to Pang’s online stage and explains her ex-relationship status with Yang. She also clarifies the rumor that she didn’t walk hand in hand with Cheng.

“I want to be a professional player too. I want to stand on the world stage with you guys.”

Volunteering to treat the team for dinner, Yao survived the ordeal of the pricey dinner cost. When she learns Sicheng already paid for it, she goes all out munching food when she was earlier counting the cost of the dinner in her mind.

She also reveals what made up her mind to pursue professional e-sports playing was the speech Ming said. At the base camp, K was having a me-time doing a dance concert and was unaware that Yao’s parents already entered the door.

At the same time, the team was heading back home. Pang shares to Yao that Si-cheng is actually the first son of the rich family of Lu Group. Surprised to see her parents, she makes a firm choice to stick to her decision and even make a dignified reason for that.

“Go conquer the world beautiful! My work is done.”

Unaware that she has intruded Sicheng’s live stream, Yao inadvertently triggers her very own first on-air. Summoning Jinyang to doll her up, she then meets ZGDX’s fans. Asking Rui to ban all who would say she’s ugly, Sicheng quips the request to be impossible.

To not get distracted, she turned off the comments, but trust Sicheng to know how to annoy her by making a live read of the pop-up messages. He even adds his own side comments obviously focused to make her distracted in her first on-air.

“I lied. I’m not fine. I’m deeply troubled. I can’t play Tamamo-no-Mae well. I’m not the No. 1 Tamamo-no-Mae player on the Chinese server.”

When Rui receives an invite from Sicheng’s former Korean team, the latter responds not to take it yet since Yao is still training. But the Korean player (Tai) who likes to powertrip makes a direct taunt leading to the club’s decision to accept the practice game.

True to Sicheng’s foresight, it led to Yao being humiliated in the game as the opponents particularly targeted her. The experience sent him to an emotional turmoil which made her question her own strength and whether she deserves to be in the team. Sicheng stood by her side knowing the pain her troubled heart was braving.

“I don’t care what those netizens say. Those haters can’t beat me. I’m bothered because of what Tamamo-no-Mae means to me.”

To avoid her friend wallowing in depression, Jinyang brings her to drink. But Ai Jia informs Jian Yang to come over and seize the opportunity to win her back. Thankfully, Jinyang also messaged Sicheng to pick up the already drunk midsolo of his team.

Carrying Yao on his back, Sicheng listens to her drunken litany of grievances all pointing to her determination to become a strong player who deserves to stand beside Team ZGDX on the world championship stage.

Before reaching the base, Sicheng settles her at a swing to buy medicine to sober her up. But Yao goes inside the base and thought she met a ghost. Hurriedly seeking to be rescued, she jumps to be carried by Sicheng who just arrived. She reports that a ghost who looks like him is inside the base. It turns out that the “ghost” she saw is Sicheng’s younger brother – Lu Yue.

Refusing to go down, he carries her back inside. Ming and Rui check on the commotion and they huddle at the living room to listen to the team’s former mid-solo. Feeling threatened that her position will be taken away, the still drunk Tong Yao refuses. She crazily pleads Sicheng that she does not want a closer interaction with the water dispenser by not being the starting player.

“Cheng ge, why don’t you let me the starting player? I don’t want to guard the water dispenser over there.”

Waking up to her usual routine, the avalanche of her crazy drunken self the other night dawned on Yao. She begged Sicheng to not give her position and even put up a solo singing performance of children’s songs.

The Lu brothers even struggled giving her sobering pills and she also sent tons of drunk text messages to Sicheng. Ashamed of what she’s done, she resorts to wearing a mask to practice the next day. Giving her a glass of honey water, Sicheng animatedly reminds her how she became a different person after a taste of Long Island Iced Tea.

From giving tissues she used to blow her nose as her farewell gifts to how she licked her cat’s ears and bit them, Yao rushes to follow her captain’s order to change her pajamas afraid to hear more of her mischief-makings.

Unfortunately, Lue Yue’s return was not met happily by Lao K and Pang who blamed him for withdrawing from the previous year’s Spring Finals. Then, a video of Lue Yue causing trouble was also unveiled which partly caused Ming’s injury who came to shield Yue. Unfortunately, the fans think that Yao is the mastermind of the viral video.

Thankfully, Ai Jia was able to help clarify the issue. That it was the opposing team that ZGDX fought that time that really planned to beat them, and Yue overheard it. Confronting the elephant in the room, the team makes amends and Yue becomes the substitute player.

Falling Into Your Smile

“It’s not a question of being fat or skinny. It’s just that everything she wears looks like children’s wear.”

Yao and Yue bickering begins to fill ZGDX’s base. With the team’s upcoming pictorial, Jinyang helped Yao with some shopping and salon care. But Sicheng softly chides her on painting her nails, extending her lashes and wearing a strong perfume that can suffocate her teammates. He urges her to focus on becoming a starting player through training and not doing something meaningless.

At night, Jinyang notices her nails and lashes are gone and comments how Sicheng has been controlling her life. She teases Yao about the possibility of her falling for her captain and she can’t really refute it.

The next day, the uniforms for their promotional photos arrive and Sicheng finds a way to tease her small-sized uniform of it being the size that children wear. They head to the pictorial studio and get primed for makeup. While Yue and Pang hate the process, Lao K even knows the color shades that would make him radiant.

“In ancient times, you’d have to marry me in a situation like this.”

When the photoshoot started, Yao is still working on her makeup. But when she was needed, Sicheng was asked to fetch her and finds her about to change to the uniform. He goes out to guard the door and gropes for some candy to ease the heat after seeing a glimpse of Yao’s back.

He also pushes Yue away when he arrived to check on Yao. She confronts why he did not knock and after explaining the slim chance of seeing her in that awkward situation, he relents and apologized. She quips how what happened would warrant marriage in traditional times, Sicheng tells her not to push her luck.

When ZDGX PR team released photos on social media, Sicheng is pestered by her mom who thinks both her sons are dating the same woman. Yue quickly calls their mom and when he tries to push his brother into the limelight, Sicheng’s legendary shoe goes flying to knock Yue out.

“It’s true that if a pretty boy is not with a beauty, he is with another pretty boy.”

Preparing for the National League games, Team ZGDX goes for a practice game with their neighbor team which acquired a new core player. Fortunately, the team pulls through a hard-earned game and Sicheng already deduced that his former teammate Hierophant is the new player.

Back when Sicheng used to work in a Korean time, he played side by side with Hierophant and was known to be a formidable duo. When he received a call that Hierophant went missing, Sicheng knows just where to find him.

They raid the crane machine and quickly catch up with taunting remarks of beating each other at the National League games.

“Come on. Don’t be afraid.”

The National League games kick off with old rivals and top teams CK and ZGDX facing each other. Tong Yao with an uncomfortable tummy receives encouragement from Sicheng who is also feeling under the weather.

Planning to finish the game early, Sicheng picks an explosive game player which was deemed a risky move. But with his and Yao’s condition, he avoids the risk and secures the team’s first win.

While the team heads to a carnival, Yao and Sicheng who are both not feeling well went back to the base. Apparently, Yao’s monthly period came but she still managed to make sure that Sicheng takes the meds albeit his resistance to just sleep it off.

“If we were in ancient times, you’d have to be dipped in a pig’s cage for punishment, wouldn’t you? Or is it the 801st time that I should marry you?

The two end up taking each other while bickering as Sicheng helps her cook the congee she wants and prepares a hot pack for her tummy. When the boys arrive home, Fatty gets the first of the many Cheng-Yao surprises he’s bound to witness seeing the two sleeping soundly together.

Meeting the curious looks of his teammates, Sicheng asks them what the fuss is about and tells them not to be noisy since she’s still sleeping. He explains how she soiled her bed so she goes to his room but it did not stop the boys from teasing him on luring a young woman to his bed.

He debunks his teammates’ claim of sexual harassment and how there were other beds in the house for her to use. But Sicheng argues that Yao is of legal age to marry already. Pushing the gossipers away, he goes back to his room and serves the woman who crawled on his bed with a dose of her “in ancient times” medicine.

Continuing on their bickering, Yao refuses to hand his blanket out of fear that she might have stained it. The tug-of-war leads to her losing balance and falling on his body. Falling on a trance, the magic quickly dissipates when Fatty again entered the room seeing them in an awkward position.

“How I miss the time when you were trembling on the bed who didn’t dare to say a word?”

It’s Team ZGDX’s dreaded beat-the-live-stream-time moment and Yao finds the whole team working hard to be it. Her ex Jian Yang tunes in as soon as his special notification alarmed him that she’s on air.

However, it’s not really a good time since Sicheng becomes extra focused on distracting Yao’s playing. He even playfully hints at how close he is with Yao that they even share a bed together.

While the boys make meaningful expressions, the online viewers demand answers from Yao, so she was left with no choice but to guarantee that her legs being shorter than Sicheng’s arms affirms the impossibility of her forcing him to be sullied.

Coming to her rescue, Sicheng explained Yao’s bad period and how they end up going home, and eventually sleeping together in one bed because they’re both not feeling well.

Jealousy overtakes Jian Yang as he rushed to see Yao at their base. Denouncing the gossip, Jian Yang pleads on rekindling their romance and explains how her being a pro player now should understand his situation well.

Jinyang who does not want her friend to be lured again by her ex urged Sicheng to interfere. Yao explains again how Jian Yang’s decision to become a pro was not the reason why they broke up. She opens up how she felt that he’s never treated her as someone he wants to spend his life with. They hug for the last time and accept the closure that has long been belated.

Falling Into Your Smile

“Why would he hug you?”

Tong Yao sees their captain waiting for him and questions if they reconciled to which she denied. Reasoning it’s a “friendship hug”, stoic Sicheng replies how he’s not dumb. Back at the base, Lu Yue asks the same thing.

She answers the same thing and assures him how she will not be with his brother because she wants to live longer. She also vows that she will not be in a relationship with an e-sports player. However, her thoughts are honestly bothered on reading the signs thrown by Sicheng which the e-sports fans have been analyzing as well.

Waking up in the morning of a matchday with Sicheng casually taking care of her breakfast, slippers and bag definitely does not help Tong Yao whose heart and mind have been haunted by him.

Facing a rising team called KING, Yao’s preparation to defeat the opponent’s jungler paid off as they subdue him mercilessly. Inevitably, ZGDX won the game and Sicheng gets the game’s MVP. At the interview portion, he gave credit to Tong Yao’s diligence in not being complacent to whoever they face in the game. For the first time in his career, he also vocally praised their new midsolo.

“Do you have any grudge with the title of the team captain? You’ve collected two captains in two games? Do you take it as stamp collecting?”

Elated at their win, the team discusses the heated arguments after the game. Fans lash at KING players for not being able to fight properly. Feeling bad, Yao defends their opponents. She also comforts the young captain who she saw crying at the staircase exit.

Unaware that her own team is looking for her, they were surprised to see Sicheng waiting at the door of the passageway exit. He annoyingly comments on her popularity with team captains and even compares it with stamp collecting.

At the bus, Yao approaches Sicheng, who fastly responds that he does not want to be collected. When he heard her say she wants to play with Tai (the power tripper player) again. The boys stop their thoughts when they also heard Yao’s remark as the captain sealed a date for Yao and Tai’s rematch.

With the support of her teammates, Yao enters the game, but she ends up facing Tai alone down the stretch. Worried that she might get traumatized again, she braves the odds and fights wholeheartedly gaining the victory.

Falling Into Your Smile

“She played well in the game, so I complimented her. What’s the matter?”

The team goes out for dinner and while onboard the bus, Yao sees Sicheng’s interview praising her performance. When she checks it with Rui, the captain gets her phone and they eventually play tug-of-war. But the bus suddenly breaks so they go for another trance moment.

Softly chiding herself for feeling jealous about the woman Sicheng is speaking with over the phone, her mood lightens up as soon as he tells her he’s talking to his mom. Lu mom continues to pester her son announcing his blind date. Refusing the idea, he throws meaningful stares at Tong Yao whose face shows unhappiness at the news of his blind date.

Unable to evade his mom’s plan, Sicheng is forced to meet the blind date and explains it to Tong Yao. He gets the slippers she again missed wearing and reminds her how painful her monthly cramps would be if she keeps forgetting.

Checking on his blind date, Yao recognized the place and coaches him of buying takoyaki that can steam any woman’s heart. He drags the blind date to the takoyaki stand but she declines eating there. Buying takeout for Tong Yao, he talks with the girl in the car and goes straight to the point that they are not a match.

Like a happy puppy, Yao gets the takoyaki takeout from Sicheng and protects it from Yue’s hungry craving.

“Rui ge, please call Lu Yue. I can’t play today. I have to save my dignity.”

Before the match with FNC, the team huddle backstage and witness the unveiling of the cute but embarrassing behind-the-scene “game quote” featuring Tong Yao. It was when she had a bad tummy because of her period and she spoke about it casually with the team. Live fans totally love her candid nature.

To revive her focus, Sicheng vows to buy a big screen TV and have her quote play on a spree if she won’t focus on the game. FNC’s jungler Kun strangely swerves to his role and targets Tong Yao the whole first game. Fortunately, her teammates were able to salvage the situation and they still won. But she’s definitely unhappy with Kun’s suppression.

Unknown to them, Kun is actually expressing his fondness to his crush Yao and even visits her at the breakroom to invite her for a quick session on his live stream. When Kun felt happy about the comment of the two being a “good match”, Sicheng knows just how to mark his territory and asks him to stop the live stream.

Sicheng who can understand the Korean player totally drawn to Yao’s charm remarks how Yao is collecting stamps again. In the second game, ZGDX makes the adjustment with Sicheng attacking Kun relentlessly and going full force for a team sweep.

Determined to be with his crush, Kun crashes on ZGDX’s bus so Sicheng switches places with Fatty. Staring happily at Yao like she’s a work of art at a museum, Sicheng’s sour face slowly escalates to annoyance.

“She’s my girl. Don’t bother her. You little brat!”

Expressing she thinks FNC’s jungler wants to flirt with her, Yao blurts how she’s still annoyed with him because he bullied her at the game earlier. Taking charge, Sicheng gets Yao’s phone and speaks an audible message in Korean meant to Kun that “Yao is his girl and he needs to back off”.

Insisting to know what he said, Sicheng just replied that she will not be pestered any more. At the restaurant, Kun speaks with Sicheng to confirm what he just said that he’s with Yao.  Making a firm remark not to mess with her as she’s going to be with him, he reminds Kun that he knows about the girls he left heartbroken in Korea.

Kun promises to cherish and take care of Yao and asks for his blessing. Sicheng once again asserted that Tong Yao is his girl.

Later, Yao meets Jinyang who bought a villa near the base to translate Sicheng’s message. They are both perplex at Cheng ge’s declaration marking Yao as his girl.

“If you dare to make eye contact with him again, next time I’m afraid we will have to French kiss in front of him.”

Back at ZGDX base, Sicheng was hit by a triple kill with his previous blind date insisting to meet him and Kun calling him of his plan to watch their game to confirm if Yao is his girl. Because if not because he likes her big time, he will still pursue her. Hanging up his phone, he faces Tong Yao’s wrath who learned about how he blocked her potential date Kun.

The next day, Yao prepares breakfast for Sicheng and he tells her that Kun will be watching to observe if they are really together. He also warns that she could become his 18th girlfriend and how he has changed girlfriend before like how he changed clothes. Praising her for the well-fried egg, Yao’s heart flutters furtively.

At ZGDX’s next game, the admirers of their captain and midsolo are both eagerly cheering. So, Sicheng gets back Yao’s attention by holding her head in place. He tells her to focus less they might need to French kiss to ward off Kun’s intention.

Falling Into Your Smile

“I was nervous at the beginning, afraid that I wouldn’t fit in with everyone else. Then I found out everyone is kind.”

After winning the first set of the game, Yao spots Sicheng’s blind date holding a big bouquet of flowers. Asserting her vague romantic place in Sicheng’s life, she imagines a fleeting sweet move pretending an eyelash fell on his cheek, which he deduced to be a sign of her getting jealous.

But in reality, she can only pout when Sicheng takes the flowers in the break room. Kun also makes a visit to give Yao some yummy snacks but Sicheng pushes him away and reiterates again that Yao is hers. Going back to the game, the team secures the win and makes a vow to the audience.

Clumsy Pang, unfortunately, steps on Yao who is about to be interviewed as the game’s MVP, so Sicheng princess carries her to where the interviewer is shocking everyone in the stadium.

In the interview, Yao relays how she has already adjusted and was treated differently because she’s a girl in a male-dominated sports industry. She inspires with her thoughts on how girls are deemed inferior in any industry, but she believes that those are just prejudices; and that girls can do well in any field.

When she was asked about her closeness with the captain, she responds that should Sicheng learns to like a human someday, and they end up being together, she will proudly announce it.

Falling Into Your Smile

“I don’t want you to go.”

Stirring attention, Sicheng’s blind date creates an illusion. Lu Yue steps up to make the rejected girl understand that his brother can never be into her. The team gets new pair of shoes from Sicheng. After buying pairs of shoes, they bump on Sicheng’s blind date who asked if they can have dinner, but he politely refuses.

The blind date of ZGDX’s captain goes viral but Sicheng confronts it once and for all by explaining it clearly to his fans. He also responds that he can go on dates since he is of legal marrying age.

Assuring his fans that dating is not on his priority list but the championship trophy, his sharp eyes caught on Yao’s whining of how he had the girl’s contact #. He quickly replies that he deleted it long ago already like a boyfriend explaining to his girl.

Answering he will only date someone who can defeat him in the game, he asks Yao for a solo game with a crayfish dinner treat at stake. Fortunately, Yao won thanks to the support of the whole team.

But then, Sucheng’s phone rings. She asks who called and he explains that the blind date wants to meet for the last time. He cannot say no because she might visit the base.

Obviously not happy and jealous, Yao walks away and thinking Sicheng is listening intently to her music playlist, she faintly mumbles that she does not want him to go. Unknown to her, Sicheng heard it loud and clear.

Falling Into Your Smile Episodes 1 – 16 Musings

Pulling an all-nighter to recap Falling Into Your Smile is my way of appreciating the smiles and good vibes I got and will still be getting from this series. I’ve mentioned my initial thoughts in the mid-series recap, so I’ll be setting my thoughts here casually.

Initially, the series is not on my schedule, but with the amount of happiness I got binge-watching this series, I just really want to pay back like any responsible drama fangirl. So over 7K words (and counting for remaining recaps) after, here’s my gratitude to this endearing series.

Being responsible, I also hunted the novel version and I just hope that the remaining beaming moments will be shown in the drama adaptation. Capturing the smart screenplay, the TV series is as delightful as its original work. So, really a great job in casting the actors who vibrantly portrayed their novel counterparts.

The romantic development in the series is like how a normal relationship in the real world happens, that’s how it can easily lock any viewer who likes saccharine love stories. It’s not the usual weaving of “coincidental induced by love scenarios” perse. The series patiently let the romance grow with the main leads’ shared bickering, joys and pains.

Balancing the game frames and the love story is the strongest suit of Falling Into Your Smile. It did not push the e-sports world setting to the backdrop for the romance to thrive.

Falling Into Your Smile

A Drama That Can Break Your Hiatus

Meeting Xu Kai and Cheng Xiao in a drama for the first time has really made me root for their story and the way they portrayed Tong Yao and Sicheng is how I would want it to be on-screen.

Falling Into Your Smile pushed me to binge-watch the series in one go. Something that I rarely do anymore since I’m relatively in a senior citizen status as a drama fan. But it was all worth it. I have managed well that fangirl depression caused by “waiting for the next episodes to drop” moment since formally writing my thoughts online.

So, if like me you are not dancing-in-the-air-kind-of-happy in the parade of dramas you’ve seen so far this year, take my advice to watch this charming series.
