How The Good Detective 2 Came To Life
Writer Choi Jin Won shared how he poured energy into making the new season possible, from planning to writing the final script.
“We faced countless difficulties, and in resolving them, many people’s blood and sweat efforts were required. Thank you to everyone who worked hard. I hope the time spent with ‘The Good Detective’ until season 2 remains a happy memory for them.”
He also talks about his gratitude to viewers and the teamwork between the production and actors.
“The pleasant atmosphere of the scene was captured in the work, and the viewers felt and sympathized with it. That’s why the second season happened. The Good Detective 2 is not only an investigation that follows a case, but it is also a drama where the human anguish and conflict of each character and their relationship with each other are key factors. I think that the vivid and realistic sense of reality conveyed by the actors’ natural acting and breathing is the biggest factor that can lead to season 2.”
About the Characters to Anticipate
The writer emphasizes the detectives in the series are not heroic with a burning sense of justice. Accordingly, they are ordinary detectives that exist in real life.
“They are a real-life characters who suffer from family problems, obsessed with salary and promotions, and troubled by hierarchical relationships at work.”
Moreover, the new season highlighted the hidden facets of the previous season.
“Kang Do-chang became more obsessed with compassion for the victim and his family due to past mistakes, and Oh Ji-hyuk overcame his dark personal history and strengthened his will as a detective. The characters inside the police station emphasized their cheerful and humorous appearance a little more.”
Finally, the writer Choi Jin Won explains how the drama depicts the pain of the victims’ families.
“This drama is about detectives pursuing a murderer. It is also a drama depicting the pain of the victims’ families met along the way. I want viewers to watch this drama from the perspective of detectives. How agonizing the pain and anger of the victims’ families to them. Why they become obsessed with solving the case and for what purpose they have to catch the criminal. If viewers feel frustrated, angry, and happy just like detectives, the writer’s message is a success. And that is the goal of this drama.”
The Good Detective 2 was set to air for the first time on JTBC at 10:30 pm on July 30.
