Divorce Attorney Shin Opening Week Story
Former pianist Shin Sung-han (Cho Seung Woo) has since shifted his profession to a lawyer specializing in divorce. Reliable and capable he wins cases efficiently, but his paralegal and friend Jang Hyung-geun (Kim Sun Kyun) hopes he go for other cases.
They are friends with Jo Jung-sik (Jung Moon Sung) who owns a real estate business. Friends for a long time, they enjoy each other’s company over food, drinks and music.
“Marry carefully. Divorce swiftly.”
After winning the mediation for his latest client, Sung-han accepts a challenging case involving radio announcer Lee Seo-jin (Han Hye Jin).
Her husband is divorcing her after her affair and a leak video with her lover. Seo-jin has been in an abusive and controlling relationship with the father of her son.
Despite a slim chance of turning the tables because of Seo-jin’s scandal, Sung-han’s meeting with her son Hyeon-u helped win the custody and property division. Through Hyeon-u’s journal, Sung-han reveals the sick nature of Seo-jin’s evil husband who disappointingly showed the video of his mother’s scandal.
From there, Sung-han and Seo-jin got the upper hand and win the case.
Divorce Attorney Shin Opening Week Musings
Weekly peeks at Divorce Attorney Shin can be sedating especially if you prefer chill stories featuring sensible life realities.
Coupled with effortless superb characterizations from its fixed cast, the series promises a neat narrative with witty humor constantly interspersed through the highlighted friendship story.
For its opening week, two cases were closed and a sampler of the next case was introduced. We can’t confirm yet if the structure will remain like that.
Notably, the lead stars vaunt striking portrayals as expected from them. Standing out individually, the synergy is also palpable, especially that of the three friends.
A faint preview of Sung-han’s motivation in leaving his career as a pianist to become a lawyer is expected to be explored in the subsequent episodes. Seo-jin is also hinted to be working at Sung-han’s law firm.
If your preference is legal stories that are not too heavy, the series gave quite a convincing pitch to the interesting cases tackled during its launch week.
