Nothing grand or extra sweet, Family: The Unbreakable Bond modestly put forward the life of a close-knit family with interesting members.
To run for 12 episodes, the series airs on Monday and Tuesday on tvN.

Family: The Unbreakable Bond Opening Week Story
Appearing to be a normal father and husband, Kwon Do-hoon (Jang Hyuk) pretends he is working for a trading business when in fact he is a black NIS agent. His missions often missed important family events that his wife Kang Yu-ra (Jang Nara) hates.
His excuses and alibis are often because of the tasks Manager Oh asked him to do. In reality, he sometimes gets caught up in his mission. His latest slip is the all-important 10th-anniversary celebration which is supposed to be an overseas vacation.
Yu-ra decides to go alone but she ends up going back to Korea because of unexpected turbulence. Demanding she wants to meet Manager Oh for overworking her husband who struggles to juggle his role in the family, Do-hoon can’t give her a definite answer.
Not even close to nearly appeasing his wife’s anger, Do-hoon strikes another trouble for being late for his mother’s memorial service. When Yu-ra sees a phone call from her husband’s boss, she declines it and schedules an appointment at their house.
It turns out Manager Oh Chun-ryun (Chae Jung An) is a pretty lady boss and she really did come when Yu-ra sent the text message.
“It’s my fault. All of this happened because I am an incompetent boss.”
Bringing gifts that Yu-ra subtly declared as bribes, Chun-ryun used tears to counter the claim which got the sympathy of the Kwon family. Responding to that, Yu-ra also used her tears and sadly blames herself for not earning enough to help her husband.
Still annoyed at her husband, Yu-ra agrees to a ceasefire as they are trying to get pregnant, and the calendar just announced the perfect timing is up. Unfortunately, on D-Day, the whole family is in the living room
Yu-ra who assumes control of Kwon family inevitably deals with Chun-ryun’s involvement in the family. The latter has helped with Mi-rim, Do-hoon’s sister-in-law’s post-partum care arrangement and she also reserved a nice vacation for Do-hoon’s father.
Her inner rage escalates when she learns Chun-ryun attended an event for her daughter Min-seo who received a school recognition award. Due to a bulk order from her cafe which she later learns a recommendation from Chun-ryun, she was not able to go to Min-seo’s school.
In a hotel where Do-hoon is on a sniping mission, Yu-ra arrives and sees Chun-ryun heading to the elevator. Just as Do-hoon finished his mission, he hears cryptic footsteps approaching.
Family: The Unbreakable Bond Opening Week Musings
Each member in Family: The Unbreakable Bond has everything going on with them. Every character story honestly makes the series a bit disorganized. But that disarray makes the narrative distinctly appealing.
Settling humbly for its premiere launch week, the series established the characters well, along with a muted delivery of its trajectory.
It’s normal to have an inkling that Do-hoon’s job will bring about the conflict of the story as he struggles to live a normal family man life albeit his dangerous work.
With his wife Yu-ra keen to keep the family in place, this could lead to a predicament and we don’t want the sassy Kwon family to go through that.
Considering a dozen episode is prepared for this drama, the pace should pick up in the next episodes. Nevertheless, the you-and-me-together-with-our-family-against-your-cryptic-work-and-boss would suffice.
