Flex X Cop Opening Week Story
Born to a wealthy family, Jin Yi-soo (Ahn Bo Hyun) lives comfortably and literally can spend money on a whim. After playing a rescue game where he rented out a mall, he had a drinking party. When he chased after a man who hurt his friend with a knife, he was accused of assault by Lee Kang-hyun (Park Ji Hyun), team leader of the Violent Crime Investigation Unit 1.
Despite learning his status, Kang-hyun proceeds with the investigation. Confident that he did not do wrong, Yi-soo was unfortunately betrayed by the friend he helped because he couldn’t go to the police station since he took drugs that night and it might implicate him.
Kang-hyun who double-checked the crime scene per Yi-soo’s words that the man he assaulted had a knife realized that it was indeed self-defense. Yi-soo also helped capture a criminal they’d been chasing for two months. However, Yi-soo’s case already caused concern to Yi-soo’s father, Chairman of Hansu Group, who is vying to enter the mayoral race.
Yi-soo’s brother, Seung-joo (Kwak Si Yang) defends his little brother and proposes an idea to the police. For their press conference, they would disclose that Yi-soo has been specially recruited to the team for the case.
Yi-soo also obeys his brother to work in the police department to appease their father’s fury about what happened. It would be great for him to join the police force since it can support their father’s political aspiration.
Fitting into his unit is not easy though. Kang-hyun tries to make him quit but he can find a way to respond to her discouraging intentions. To be acknowledged as a cop, he makes a deal with her to solve the current case involving a model and a son of another conglomerate company. If Kang-hyun and her original team win, he gets a desk job
Flex X Cop Opening Week Musings
Joining SBS’s powerful K-Drama hero roster, Ahn Bo Hyun has a herculean task in Flex X Cop. The packaging of his character foresees a focus on his emotional and attitude growth.
Some parts were amusing in the first outing of this new SBS series but the hooking part might take a few episodes. Probably, when Violent Crime Investigation Team 1 settles as one team.
From the looks of it, there will be a few side stories to be featured where Yi-soo can flaunt his money and various charms while catching bad guys. It would be not so bad to mix some romance with his feisty and pretty team leader.
