Lies Hidden In My Garden Opening Week Highlights

After discovering her sister’s dead body, Moon Joo-ran (Kim Tae Hee) succumbs to an unstable mental state. That leads to her husband’s decision to move to another house from Seoul with their son. However, a strange smell from the backyard of their new house eventually bothers her.

She digs and sees a woman’s hand which she reported to her husband, Park Jae-ho (Kim Sung Oh), a famous doctor. Reassuring her that what she saw was a glove probably left by the workers before they moved in, Joo-ran remains leery especially since she heard their new neighbor commenting about the foul smell coming from the house.

Meanwhile, what luxury Joo-ran enjoys is inversely proportional to what Choo Sang-eun, (Lim Ji Yeon) suffers. She is married to an evil husband who beats her despite her pregnancy.

When her husband was found dead after she was driven to her mother’s place for a visit, her sorrowful life ends. She also learns of an evil dealing her husband did involving Jae-ho.

At the same moment, Joo-ran becomes suspicious of Jae-ho’s alibi for not leaving their house. Just then, she receives a message from Sang-eun who discovers photos from an obvious woman’s mobile phone.

Lies Hidden In My Garden Opening Week Musings

Portrayal-wise the commitment of the lead actors of Lies Hidden In My Garden is worth commending. However, the slow-moving plot defeats the purpose of the basic element in a thrilling drama – which is inducing excitement.

Fortunately, the series might be having just a slow start. So, it could be preparing to build the tension. Still, the spiritless launch episodes could be challenging for viewers with high expectations for the series. Make sure you manage your expectations.

Nevertheless, we can see the unalterable intention of the story to bank on secrets and conspiracy. On the horizon, Sang-eun and Joo-ran are hinted to be in a tangled fate that also involves their husbands.

With puzzling characters adding unpredictability to the narrative, hopefully, the pace picks up from its borderline tolerable premiere.
