Love Your Enemy Opening Week Story
Coming from rival families, Yoon Ji-won and Seok Ji-won grew up together in the same town.
Yoon Ji-won stayed in the town and became a Physical Education teacher while Seok Ji-won worked on their family business which has since prospered. Later, the Seok family gained control of the school where Ji-won’s Grandpa works as a chairman.
After returning from Dubai, Seok Ji-won meets friends and his fury for knowing that Yoon Ji-won doesn’t remember him makes him agree to his father’s request to lead the golf course project in their hometown with the chairman position at Dokmok High School to meet the first love who doesn’t recall him anymore.
“Date me, if the lilac blooms.”
Losing her contact lenses and breaking her eyeglasses, Yoon Ji-won ignored her long-lost rival when he appeared at the school.
At a faculty drinking party, the two Ji-wons who have been at odds since their reunion get into another bet.
When they were in high school, they bet on the final exam result which Yoon Ji-won won. If she wins, he will call her noona. If he wins, she will date him.
This time, Seok Ji-won sets a bet that if the crazy lilac trees at the school bloom again, then she will date him.
Love Your Enemy Opening Week Musings
Cheery and a comfy watch, Love Your Enemy honestly needs to ramp up its game to stand out in the recent spree of reunion-romance story set in a small town.
The opening salvo draws fun and sweet highs from the flashbacks narrating the youth era of the lead pair. Seeing more of these nostalgic trips, hopefully, would be a constant in the series.
We can also expect a saccharine-moving plot, more bickering and an explanation of their disrupted romance.
For OG Ju Ji Hoon fans hoping to see him in a rom-com, I think it will be a gift considering he has been on serious and intense stories in the past years. Likewise, we can never go wrong with Jung Yu Mi as a rom-com female lead.
To run for six weeks, viewers are guaranteed a quick-paced story. Let’s cross our fingers that it can sustain its charm by keeping the plot simple and the sweetness progressive.
Coming to terms with their past, the deep-seated feelings they keep for a long time are expected to resurface. But of course, we can foresee their families as a variable to how they can smoothly navigate their paths to love.
Love Your Enemy streams on Disney+ every Saturday and Sunday.
