The Killing Vote Opening Week Highlights

Passionate and driven, there’s no crime problem without a solution for Kim Mu-chan (Park Hae Jin). Designated as the clean-up guy of the police force, he is bad news to crime offenders but is also not doted on by the seniors for his attitude.

In a case involving cyber pornography, he encounters Ju Hyeon (Lim Ji Yeon) who poses as a mole to extract information on the whereabouts of the illegal business. After serving a year and six months in prison, the evil owner of the internet pornography business gets released from jail amidst the clamor of the victims and their loved ones.

But he did not live longer to execute a new batch of videos he was intent to publicize. A cryptic text blast to adults 18 years and above was sent asking for public opinion if he is worthy to live. The poll is set for an hour to receive votes from the recipients.

Inevitably, the evil CEO meets his demise. He was found wearing only underwear at his new hideout with bills shoved in his mouth.


“Our law is not perfect, but it needs to be fair.”

Then, a masked man declared a public vote that would take place thereafter with criminals deemed to have escaped human laws as prime candidates. Mu-chan is offered to lead an investigation team to catch the “killing vote” administrator in exchange for getting a place in the national headquarters.

Prior to the first cast killing vote, Ju Hyeon stumbles on a video of the masked man. However, her team leader refuses to proceed with the investigation. So, she brings what she found out to Mu-chan. Mentioning Kwon Seok-joo (Park Sung Woong), a man whom Mu-chan sent to jail for killing his daughter’s murderer as a possible clue in the case.

In a flashback, on the night Mu-chan stops Seok-joo after killing her daughter’s murderer, the encounter hints that they know each other.


The Killing Vote Opening Week Musings

Throwing a hooking premise, the first episode of The Killing Vote convinces viewers that the remaining episodes are worth checking out.

Laying out questions about the masked man and if Seok-joo is really involved in the peculiar execution of justice involving the public, the series poses interesting scenarios.

In a perfect understanding world, the goal of the masked man can be considered for the greater good. Eradicating remorseless ruthless people seem logical. So, looking forward to how the drama would draw a balanced perspective would be one of the drawing points of the series.

Notably, it has also put spotlights on the characters to navigate the series. We have quite a few that would be on good versus bad sides. The vibe of the series also suggests plot twists and betrayals.
