What Has Transpired So Far in Military Prosecutor Doberman?

No Tae Nam’s Villain Origin Story

Painted as a monstrous character, viewers will first believe that this young CEO is the main antagonist of the drama. However, episodes 3-6 have revealed how little No Tae Nam is compared to the schemes and atrocities of the high-ranking military personnel, who are indeed the wicked characters of the series.

Moreover, this cruel boy who views everyone below him and acts as if everything is his to conquer has two apparent fears. One being his female general mother. The latter, enlisting in the military—the very place that embodies everything he ever dislikes.

It was revealed that Tae Nam severely abused a student in high school, leaving the youngster blind. Contrary to the usual drama trope, Tae Nam’s mother (although it may be true that she still clears up Tae Nam’s mess using power and money) is not precisely lenient nor supportive of his son’s endeavors.

The truth is that her military career and ambitions weigh more for her than her son. And so viewers get to see how his mother treats Tae Nam in the past few episodes.

The Sinister Truth About the First Female General

The scary and dominant General No Hwa Young is indeed not the mother anyone would dream of having. Not only is she too ambitious for her own—or anybody’s own good, but she is also a person who has been committing endless crimes to climb the ranks while parading a righteous facade as a military general.

For instance, her grenade punishment. She confines her son in a military garage, removing the pin from a grenade and leaving a scared Tae Nam gripping the grenade’s neck so the fuse doesn’t blow. As a result, Tae Nam did not change for the better. He even grew up to become a more menacing and deranged person.

Additionally, she tells her son she will not tolerate any of his doings that will dirty her career track record. Likewise, she stated how she plans on rising to the top where no female soldier has ever done before.

She keeps Tae Nam below what seems like a bunker below the garage for an hour. More importantly, years after, she is unchanged and will not stop at any lengths to achieve her goals.

The Twisted Patriotic Society

The old idiom “no man is an island” holds true in this series. For General No Hwa Young could not have done all the nasty and heinous things she did, without a toxic and powerful support system.

Although the objectives of the private organization are not yet fully revealed, it is pretty obvious that the party is consisted of greedy and corrupt military officials.

The End of Bae-man’s Double Agent Life

Since beginning his Military Prosecutor career, Bae-man never really had a clean record. Besides that, he is portrayed as a man of unconventional means in the series.

To enumerate, during his time licking Yong Moon Goo’s shoes, Bae Man was seen acting all righteous and powerful. Moreover, he often confuses the viewers if he was rotten to the core or a protector of justice.

Like in the instance of the sergeant he framed, who turned out to be a murderer. Not just that, but Bae Man also once defended a rapist and attempted to get another rapist out of military service. In addition to these, he also protected the power-hungry people in court in exchange for money.

With that said, the fact that he frames an offender for a new crime to make them pay for their past crimes does not make things right with the way he acts as a military prosecutor.

It came to a point where Woo In asks him whether he is a just prosecutor or a smart one. Bae Man chuckles claiming he leans more on the cunning side. However, his redemption arc begins after discovering that Woo In’s enemies are the ones who killed his parents.

No Tae Nam’s Military Horrors

Eating and sitting together with a bunch of strangers, much more taking a bath with them, are definitely on the list of things No Tae Nam will rather die than do. Moreover, being in the 4th Infantry Division means being under the eyes of his mother 24/7.

Not to mention, he cannot bring his beloved dog Bolt with him nor his electronic UV mask and other self-care products. On top of that, military food is nothing like the medium-rare steak and wine he regularly enjoys.

Regardless of all these reasons, he is dragged to the military by his mom and Yong Moon Goo, in an attempt to keep him from causing troubles for the general.

Some Thoughts To Ponder On

One of the major questions is, how is it that until now, No Hwa Young and Yong Moon Goo who are very calculative and cunning, still have not recognized Woo In and Bae Man as the children of the people they killed.

During the first two episodes, it was shown how Yong Moon Go tracked and ran a background check on Bae Man. Also, Bae Man eventually found out about Cha Woo In being the real heiress of IM defense after a while.

How come the general herself who is very keen on keeping her enemies in check, missed that very obvious detail?

Additionally, Woo In and Bae Man did not conceal their identities by changing their names. And they definitely have the surnames of their parents. On top of that, Hwa Young is well aware that the Do inspectors she killed had a son which she saved as a ticket to cover up her crime.

Particularly, she knows former IM defense Chairman Cha had a daughter who survived the car crash. These two specific loopholes seemingly was forgotten to be executed well in the plot.

However, the thrill and the cast ensemble are splendid. Besides that, the plot development is promising. Hence, fingers crossed that Military Prosecutor Doberman will live up to the viewer’s expectations, or better yet, amaze us by breaking our wildest imaginations.

Where the Story Heads to?

Do Bae Man finally has to cross the bridge he thought was long burnt. On that note, he has to remember the past and confront it. And as much as he wants to choose the easy way out and live a lavishing life as a lawyer, his sense of justice will not let him sit still.

The people responsible for his parents’ death are closer to him than he thinks. And as the web of conspiracy broadens and the offenders are nearing their judgment day, Captain Do Bae Man and Captain Cha Woo In need to both hold on to the truth uncovered from their past and hide it from their evil superiors.

The Unbecoming of the Mine Hero

Now working with Woo In and Kang Young Seok, Bae Man starts bringing justice by finally acting like a proper military prosecutor. Their first case in unravelling the sinister threads of the patriotic society starts with the fake “mine hero” Lieutenant Won Ki Choon, and the staging of Tae Nam’s desertion.
