K-Travel: Must-Visit Filming Locations From 2022 Korean Dramas Part 1

For K-Drama fans reliving some of the best scenes in their favorite Korean dramas is a must-do when visiting their self-declared hometown.

As July wraps up, let’s look back on some of the most beautiful places introduced in some of fan-favorite 2022 Korean Dramas.

KDRAMADIARY follows a slightly different calendar in consideration of some dramas aired in the month of December that crosses over to the new year.

Our 2022 coverage includes 01 December 2022 to 30 November 2022 Korean dramas plus all series ending before the 31st of December but may extend up to the second Sunday of January 2023.

Our Beloved Summer

Boryeong Eunhaeng Ginkgo Village

Visit Korea cited the village teeming with ginkgo trees is also called called “Cheongna Eunghaeng Maeul” (청라 은행 마을) and “Green Rural Tourism Village” (녹색농촌체험마을).

Featured in episode 8 of Our Beloved Summer, it is a perfect getaway in autumn as the neighborhood transforms into a dazzling place of yellow.

The village uses Janghyeon Elementary School, which closed in 1991, as a marketplace and local experience venue. Permanent hands-on programs and seasonal countryside activities, making a mosaic with ginkgo leaves, and shaking and gathering ginkgo leaves are also available.

In the same episode of the series, the “rain kiss scene” was also shot at Cheonbuk Green Barley Field in Boryeong.

Hapcheon Movie Park

If you are a K-Drama historical series enthusiast, then you should not miss a trip to Hapcheon Movie Park!

According to Visit Korea, the theme park became a major tourist attraction after the release of Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War.

Since then, it has continued to increase in popularity following the filming of additional movies and dramas within the park.

Situated in Gahori, Yongju-myeon (Hapcheon), it covers an area of over 231,406.00㎡. Notably, it is one of the biggest film and television studio sets in Korea.

Twenty Five Twenty One

Suwon Hwaseong Fortress

The fictional bus stop of Tae Yang High School in Twenty Five Twenty One is situated in Paldalsan-ro in Suwon, Gyeonggi province. As seen in episode 3, Suwon Hwaseong Fortress is in the background of the conversation between Nam Joo Hyuk and Bona.

According to Visit Korea, the fortress was built to protect the city during the Joseon dynasty. It was designated as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site on December 12, 1997 – for its historical value. The fortress, constructed from 1794 to 1796, was built as a display of King Jeongjo’s filial piety towards his father and to build a new pioneer city with its own economic power.

Marronnier Park

At the pivotal mid-point episode of the series, Na Hee-do (Kim Tae Ri) is supposed to meet her chat friend (Bona) but finds Baek Yi Jin (Nam Joo Hyuk) standing there. She makes a declaration to claim Yi-jin come what may.

Situated in Jongno, Seoul; the park was given its name due to the marronnier trees, or horse chestnut trees, growing within the area. Open to the public, Marronnier Park aims to promote arts and culture. 

In addition to a variety of outdoor performances that take place throughout the area, exhibitions and cultural centers create a romantic atmosphere unique to the park.

Thirty Nine

Orangerie

The friendship date shared by the trio besties of Thirty Nine was shot at Orangerie, a botanical cafe garden in Yangju, Gyeonggi. Incorporating forest ambiance into its interior, the cafe evokes a beautiful and enigmatic vibe.

 


Business Proposal

Lotte World

The lively world’s largest indoor theme park is never to be missed if traveling to Seoul. As a perfect place to highlight K-Drama couple’s fun dates, the recreation center has been featured in numerous romance series, even the classic and most recent ones.

Stairway to Heaven, One Fine Day, The Greatest Love, Love Alarm, True Beauty, Our Beloved Summer and Business Proposal are some popular dramas captured in this fun-filled haven.

Incheon Jayu Park

Jayu Park as described by Visit Korea is the first Western-style Park in Korea, built five years after the opening of Incheon Port. Within the park, visitors can enjoy a small zoo, a pagoda, benches and other rest areas.

Every April, a cherry blossom festival is held as the cherry blossoms fill the park, attracting many visitors. It was perfectly captured in the concluding episode of Business Proposal.
