tvN’s new Wednesday-Thursday drama The Heavenly Idol held an online production presentation earlier.
Lead stars Kim Min Kyu, Go Bo Gyeol, Lee Jang Woo, Tak Jae Hoon, Ye Ji Won and Park So Yeon attended the event.
In The Heavenly Idol, Kim Min Kyu plays a powerful high priest who finds himself possessing the body of a K-pop idol.
It is based on a popular novel (Holy Idol LT) that has since been adapted into a webtoon owing to the love received from fans.
Suiting up to the titular role, Kim Min Kyu portrays Lembrary, after a battle with the demon king, he wakes up inside the body of a handsome idol named Woo Yeon-woo.
Meanwhile, Go Bo Gyeol, who plays the role of Kim Dal, a manager of Wild Animal and a fan of Woo Yeon-woo, raises the level of immersion by comically and cutely coping with the chaotic situation in which his favorite idol has become a different person.
For the drama adaptation, romance will be inserted to elevate the charming points of the original work. Inevitably, Kim’s acting transformation anticipates heart-fluttering moments for viewers.

Hitting off their chemistry right away, both Kim and Go affirmed their extraordinary synergy. They both confessed to having admired and enjoyed each other’s works. They also help each other draw the right emotions while filming.
Kim Min Kyu’s Idol Character Preparations
Transforming into an idol, Kim relayed unfamiliarity with the life of an idol. But after indirectly experiencing how it feels like, he acknowledged it to be a tough job. He also shares his preparations.
“This is not a job that everyone does. I practiced songs, recorded them, danced, stood on stage, and indirectly felt what idols were doing. I think I paid a lot of attention to that part. I live as an idol in terms of appearance, but I think I approached it to have a more perspective and not to forget that I came from a different world.”
Go Bo Gyeol’s Idol Manager Preparations
For her role as an idol manager, the actress asked a lot of managers about the part she was concerned about. She also learned the difference between an idol manager and an actor-manager.
“Like any job, it seems to be different depending on the attitude and affection towards the job. I thought about what kind of management Kim Dal would do with his affection for Wild Animal.”
Regarding her character research, Go revealed how a close friend of hers recently became a big fan, and with that, she was able to indirectly experience the pureness of a “fan’s affection”. That it was possible to get so much strength from being a fan.
“I don’t think I’ve ever had the experience of being a big fan like Kim Dal. Because it’s an important part, there is a movie called Seong-deok among independent films, and I looked for it and watched a lot of YouTube fan account channels.”
