Breaking records and achieving feats, Demon Slayer Mugen Train Arc should not be missed in your anime watchlist!
According to FUNimation Entertainment, Mugen Train Arc garnered a total of 32.47 billion surpassing Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away with 31.68 billion.
In 2019, the anime series “Demon Slayer” gained a lot of attention from viewers because of its enormously good written plot.
The story revolves around a boy named Kamado Tanjiro who lives in the mountains with his mother and younger brothers and sisters. Unfortunately, Tanjiro needed to gather some woods around the mountain.
When it’s time for him to go back home, he smells some blood coming from his home; running so fast, Tanjiro found his whole family soaked in blood and murdered.
Fortunately, one of his younger sisters Nezuko is alive but is badly injured. She survived but the thing is, she became a demon!
Kamado Tanjiro as a Loving Brother
In the series, we all see how caring is Tanjiro to Nezuko. He became a demon slayer to find a cure for her sister by fighting Muzan Kibutsuji.
Muzan is known to be the most dangerous demon of all time, but it said that his blood is so powerful and can help a demon to turn into a human.
However, finding Muzan is so difficult because Tanjiro’s strength won’t be enough in defeating him, but this doesn’t stop Tanjiro from grabbing his promise to her sister.
Exploring, defeating different demons, and gathering information on how to catch Muzan, Kamado Tanjiro made friends with Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira.
Zenitsu is known to be the one who always cries because he was so scared of demons and actually passes out every time he is in combat.
Meanwhile, Inosuke is the opposite because he was so proud of the strength he has and is confident in defeating demons.
The trio made a good friendship and is able to meet the mighty Hashiras.
Meeting the Mighty Hashiras
If demons have an upper and lower rank, the Demon Slayer Corps also have nine Hashiras who are said to be the strongest and most skilled combatants in slaying demons.
The Nine Hashira’s are:
- Water Hashira – Giyu Tomioka
- Love Hashira – Mitsuri Kanroji
- Serpent Hashira – Obanai Iguro
- Wind Hashira – Sanemi Shinazugawa
- Stone Hashira – Gyomei Himejima
- Sound Hashira – Tengen Uzui
- Mist Hashira – Muichiro Tokito
- Insect Hashira – Shinobu Kocho
- Flame Hashira – Kyojuro Rengoku
Together, these Hashiras are called when there are dangerous demons especially the existence of upper and lower demons that might attack civilians.
Flame Hashira: Kyojuro Rengoku on Duty on the Mugen Train
In the Mugen Train Arc, one of the Hashiras; Kyoujuro Rengoku (Flame Hashira) is now joining the trio on a train.
Tanjiro, together with Inosuke and Zenitsu followed Rengoku on the train to gather some information about Hinokami Kagura (Dance of the Fire God) which is only taught in the Kamado family.
However, Rengoku said that he isn’t familiar with the said dance. The Flame Hashira is tasked to defeat a demon because there is a report that there are sudden disappearances of the passengers. Knowing the one of the Hashira is needed, it is expected that the demon is quite dangerous.
The demon named “Enmu” (lower rank one) that goes with the train actually has the power to make all the passengers sleep and give them dreams that they are longing for. However, if the passengers are stuck in their dreams, it is impossible for them to come back.
The trio, along with Rengoku also fell asleep but succeeded in waking up and finally defeated Enmu in a fight but this doesn’t end because another demon occurs.
Rengoku With His Heart Ablaze Faces Upper Rank 3 Demon “Akaza”
After defeating, the Lower Rank One Demon, Rengoku now faced an Upper Rank 3 Demon named “Akaza”.
This scene has been the biggest plot twist of the movie. The audience might really think that the dilemma of the movie is now resolved because they are able to defeat the demon and save the lives of the passengers.
Another climax came, when the occurrence of Akaza emerged. Having the Upper Rank 3, it is given that this demon is more dangerous than the one they defeated.
Demons are ranked based on how many people they have eaten, and Akaza having the 3rd rank murdered a lot of people to become more powerful.
The Flame Hashira didn’t back out in having a vigorous fight with Akaza. He did his best and is close to defeating the demon, however, this doesn’t come and Rengoku falls on his knees.
This scene actually made a lot of viewers cry because the warmth of Rengoku reached the viewer’s heart and they can’t accept what happened to the Hashira.
“Go ahead and live with your head held high. No matter how devastated you may be with your own weakness or uselessness, set your heart ablaze. Grit your teeth and look straight ahead” said Rengoku to Tanjiro
This line makes it harder for the fans to accept the passing of Rengoku, but the line actually became a great motivation to the viewers to keep going on with their heads held high on catching whatever their dreams are.
The movie totally spiced up the hearts and excitement of the viewers. Starting from the characters, plot, and especially the plot twist that the viewers didn’t expect.
What’s Next on Demon Slayer?
Is anyone excited for the Red Light District Arc?
Fans are now craving what will happen next on the said series. Hopefully, there would be new details to be released at the Aniplex Online Fest 2021 in July.
Season 2 of the hit anime Demon Slayer will totally be worth the wait! As Tanjiro ventures and continues to find a cure for his sister, fans await the new twists and turns of the series.
