K-pop boy group sensation ZEROBASEONE returned to the Philippines to perform for their fans, ZEROSE, at their First Tour: Timeless World in Manila on October 12, 2024, brought to us by PULP Live World at the Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City.
This is ZB1’s second time in the Philippines. They performed in the Philippine Arena at the 2023 Asia Artist Awards last December 14, 2023, where they clinched the Best New Male Artist award.
ZEROBASEONE, a nine-member group formed on MNET’s hit reality competition Boys’ Planet, comprises Sung Hanbin, Kim Jiwoong, Zhang Hao, Seok Matthew, Kim Taerae, Ricky, Kim Gyubin, Park Gunwook, and Han Yujin. Since their formation, the group has skyrocketed to fame, achieving over 1.24 million pre-orders for their debut mini-album Youth In The Shade, setting a record for the highest number of pre-orders for a debut album by a K-pop group.
TIMELESS ENERGY
As the arena lights dimmed, the crowd of passionate fans, known as ZEROSE, lit up the venue with their rose-shaped ZB1 light sticks. Their chants echoed through the arena, building anticipation until the group took the stage to open the night with electrifying performances of “Solar POWER” and “Road Movie,” immediately energizing the crowd. They kept the momentum going with “Take My Hand” and the fan-favorite “New Kidz on the Block,” interacting with fans and raising the excitement further.
After a powerful performance of “KILL THE ROMEO,” ZB1 greeted their beloved ZEROSE with warm introductions. Han Yujin shared his excitement about trying Filipino food, especially highlighting ‘adobo’ and ‘bulalo,’ while Kim Taerae mentioned his desire to try a Jollibee hamburger, drawing delighted cheers from the crowd.
Following some playful banter, Jiwoong and Taerae teased upcoming performances by showing snippets of choreography from the songs they were about to perform. The group kept the energy high with “Crush,” living up to the song’s name as they crushed it on stage.
TIMELESS MOMENTS
As the first set wrapped up, fans were treated to an ethereal VCR, giving them a brief moment to catch their breath. But the energy surged once again as ZB1 returned to the stage in casual jeans and performed synth-pop hits like “In Bloom” and “Insomnia,” along with softer, dreamier tracks like “Good Night” and “Always.”
The night continued with nostalgic performances from their Boys’ Planet days, including unit and group numbers like “Over Me,” “Switch,” “En Garde,” “Say My Name,” and “Here I Am.” Matthew reminisced about their journey since Boys’ Planet, asking the members what had changed the most. Gunwook, with his signature humor, quipped, “First of all… I’m more handsome,” earning laughs and cheers from the crowd. He also noted how their growing chemistry as a group had enhanced their performances, which was evident as they moved seamlessly through a mix of high-energy tracks like “Dear ECLIPSE,” “Hot Summer,” and “SWEAT.”
Throughout the show, ZB1 showered their fans with love, ensuring everyone, from the front row to the highest tiers of the arena, was involved. They charmed the audience with fan-favorite tracks like “Kidz Zone” and “Feel the POP,” and by the time they performed “GOOD SO BAD,” the entire crowd was on their feet, dancing along.
TIMELESS MEMORIES
As ZEROSE eagerly awaited the encore, they kept the energy alive with chants and waves of light sticks. The boys soon reappeared in their tour merchandise, much to the fans’ delight. They delivered an emotional encore, showcasing their vocal prowess with the Korean version of “YURA YURA.” During another break, ZB1 shared their gratitude, with the group shouting “ZEROSE! Mahal kita!” in unison, a heartfelt declaration of love to their fans.
Ricky expressed their appreciation for the thoughtful roll-up banner prepared by the fans, which read, “Every moment that we spend together will bloom into a love that will last forever,” touching the hearts of the group. In return, ZB1 gave the audience even more to remember with lively renditions of “And I” and “Sunday RIDE.”
As the night drew to a close, the group thanked their fans one last time. “You guys are my pride. I hope you’re all happy, and I promise to keep getting better,” Jiwoong said. Matthew added, “The energy here is so, so amazing,” recognizing the trademark passion of Filipino audiences. The night concluded with an upbeat performance of “HELLO,” leaving fans with the promise of a future return to the Philippines.
ZeroBaseOne’s Timeless World tour stop in Manila was an undeniable success, delivering an unforgettable night of music, fan interactions, and emotional moments. The group’s flawless performances, paired with their genuine love for their fans, created an experience that both ZEROSE and the members will cherish forever. As they hinted at their return, fans left the arena with full hearts, knowing this was just the beginning of more timeless memories to come.
