The young actor is set to join the military camp on February 8.
Delivering the news to his fans on his fan cafe today, he confirmed his upcoming military service enlistment. He also wishes for everyone a healthy 2022 in celebration of the Lunar New Year.
Unlike the usual celebrities who commit to mandatory military service in their late 20’s, he decided to complete it early.
In the letter he penned, he revealed that it has been one of his goals. Feeling sorry for the surprise news, he conveyed sharing it right away once the date was set.
“Since I was young, my goal has been to go to the military early. I didn’t have it when I was 20, but I feel fortunate to be able to do it at the age of 21. I will come back and show you a better side as an adult and as an actor. Everyone, please take care of your health. I will come back as a more mature person.”
Nam’s mother posted on her SNS expressing the feelings of a mother sending her son to the military. She remarks how it’s hard to fully prepare her mind at the thought of her son leaving the house for 18 months.
Nam Da Reum debuted in the 2009 KBS drama Boys Over Flowers at the age of seven. Thereafter, he has played the young versions of popular small and big screens’ male lead actors such as s Yoo Ah In, Kang Dong Won, Im Si Wan, Lee Jong Suk, Lee Je Je Hoon, Jung Hae In, Kim Seon Ho and more.
Previously he appeared in lead roles in Beautiful World, The Great Shaman Ga Doo Shim, The 8th Night and Sinkhole. Notably, he has scored numerous young actor awards and his acting portfolio boasts over 45 and counting dramas and films.
