Charming actor Song Joong Ki is giving K-Drama fans entertaining content to indulge on! He recently appeared on History D&C’s channel to talk about his life and long yet inspiring journey to stardom!
Reaching and interacting with fans in a more unique way, talented and dazzling actor Song Joong Ki recently delved into the personal bits of his career through a History D&C video.
In the recent interview video titled Words For You | Song Joong-Ki released by his own agency, History D&C, the artist opened up about his love for acting and how he ended up in the field. Giving off a more comfortable vibe, he also discussed his outlook in both life and acting, while casually sitting on a brown-colored couch.
Starting off on a common topic, the actor shared that he became interested in acting at a very young age — probably around first or second grade as he narrated.
He said, “I remember begging my parents to send me to an acting academy when I was in elementary school. I remember vaguely and I don’t know why.”
When asked about how he felt when he passed an audition for the first time and eventually scored his very first role, Song Joong Ki stated that he did not set expectations for himself and just went with the process comfortably. He did not even think that he would pass at all and just wanted to have a good time.
“It was a group audition for new actors and I was so sure that I wouldn’t pass. I was just there to gain experience so I wasn’t nervous. I guess that’s how I got a good result,” he said.
He added, “The director of the cable drama was at the audition and fortunately, the director liked me. So he made a new role just for me and that’s when it all started.”
DEEPER THOUGHTS ON ACTING
Moving on to more personal parts, Song Joong Ki also shared his feelings regarding the time when he got his very first lead role. He said that he felt more pressured when the filming scale got bigger, leaving more room for thoughts on whether he could actually portray the character he got accurately.
“When the amount of filming was small, there were a lot of simple scenes, but as the length increased, there were scenes like, ‘Can I act like this? Looking at it, it seemed like a huge burden,” the actor stated.
However, this all goes away whenever he and the filming staff, especially the director, approve his deliveries and portrayals.
Imparting words of wisdom, Song Joong Ki also delivered a message to his younger self saying, “I would tell myself ‘you’re doing well, stop pushing yourself. I think I was too hard on myself. It was true that I wanted to do well so I restricted myself a lot. I tied myself up to make sure I didn’t make any mistakes.“
NEW PHILOSOPHIES THAT AID HIM IN HIS CAREER
Continuing his story, the precious artist openly shared that he is trying to compliment himself much more frequently these days. He was able to practice it while filming Vincenzo and it helped a lot in being confident in his portrayal of the lead role he was able to bag.
“During my recent project, I frequently told myself ‘Your choice is right, so trust yourself and go forward with it’. There’s a lot of pressure in life, whether it’s with family, friends, or relationships, but I don’t know why I compared myself so much when I first started my job. I compared myself to others a lot and I often felt jealous. Now, if I rate my comparing behavior on a scale of 1 to 100, then I think I used to be a 90 in the past. Now, I think I’m under 10.”
Song Joong Ki recently appeared on the hit tvN drama Vincenzo, where he led the show as Vincenzo Cassano. His new film Bogota is set for premiere soon and he is currently in the middle of filming after it got halted in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
