Marking his second Daesang since The Fiery Priest, Kim Nam Gil accepted an award for his winning performance for Through The Darkness at the SBS Drama Awards.
It was relatively tough competition in the dramas that aired on SBS in 2022. Notably, romance and revenge-driven stories decorate the roster of 2022 SBS Dramas.
In his acceptance speech, Kim Nam Gil expressed gratefulness to the production team and director.
“I didn’t expect it at all because Through The Darkness was broadcast at the beginning of the year. We hesitated because the material was difficult and the popularity was not enough, but we thank the viewers who have not forgotten our work and loved it until the end. There were a lot of people who were especially grateful for this work. Of course, I hesitated a lot, but I filmed it thinking only of the victims and their families. I tried to get good results with a lot of help from the actors and staff. I am grateful to the director and the writer. I dedicate this award to profilers across the country.”
He also emphasizes the creative process and efforts actors exert for each work they made.
“The reason Through The Darkness was able to be completed is thanks to the actors who played the villains. As an actor, I would like to thank the actors who chose and acted without hesitation. Looking at them on set, I felt that acting is not about being famous, and there are many really good actors in our country. It is a scene where I’m reminded that acting should be humble.”
Meanwhile, the Director’s Award at the 2022 SBS Drama Awards was given to Namgoong Min for his performance in One Dollar Lawyer. The actor made a soft nudge to defend the hard work given by people who worked on dramas.
“It was heartbreaking to see the media talking about results rather than process these days. Everyone knows how much effort we make. I want to tell you that I worked hard. I will always be vigilant and do my best to move forward.”
