Lee Jung Jae bags another trophy at the recently held edition of the Critics’ Choice Awards!
His portrayal in the mega-hit Netflix series Squid Game earned the nods of the award-giving body. The 27th Critics’ Choice Awards honors the finest achievements of filmmaking and television programming in 2021.
Making history in the South Korean drama industry, Lee is the first Korean male actor to win the coveted prize. He bested popular international actors Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, Billy Porter, Mike Coulter and Sterling K. Brown.
Notably, the award follows his victorious acting feats after winning at the 28th Screen Actors Guild Awards and the 37th Independent Spirit Awards.
On the podium, upon receiving his award, Lee Jung Jae gratefully shared the blessing to Netflix and Squid Game team.
Meanwhile, Squid Game, also won the Best Foreign Language Series.
Squid Game tells the story of people who participated in a cryptic survival game with a prize of 45.6 billion won at stake. But it is not just an ordinary game, because risking life is pertinent to become the ultimate winner.
