Bae Doona, Ryu Seung Bum, Baek Yun Sik, Lomon, and Lee Soo Hyun are confirmed lead cast of Coupang Play’s new series.
Family Planning is a story about people with special abilities who disguise themselves as family members in order to survive and use unique methods to overcome the vicious criminals who threaten them.
Playing the role of Han Young-soo, a mother who possesses special abilities and is kind to her children is Bae Doona.
Ryu Seung Bum suits up as Baek Chul-hee, a father who is somewhat timid and hides his abilities but loves his wife infinitely.
Next, veteran actor Baek Yun-sik portrays Baek Kang-seong, as a grumpy but deeply caring grandfather. Lastly, the warm and gentle son Baek Ji-hoon is played by Lomon, and the 17-year-old Baek Ji-woo, the prickly and sensitive daughter of the same age, is played by newcomer Lee Soo Hyun.
Penning the script is writer Kim Jung-min, who showed solid storytelling through the dramas Hush and Suits. Twin brother directors Kim Gok and Kim Seon, who produced crime action genre films, will participate in the directing of the series, heralding the birth of a stylish and captivating work.
Family Planning began filming at the end of December 2023, and is scheduled to be released on Coupang Play in 2024.
